The much-anticipated movie of 2025, “Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947,” was initially slated for release during Republic Day weekend this year; however, it has been postponed. In a recent private chat with TopMob, the actor revealed some details about the film’s release and mentioned that the delay in its release is due to the additional time required in post-production as producer Aamir Khan strives for perfection.
At a recent Q&A session during TopMob Masterclass, Sunny Deol was questioned about the status of Lahore 1947. The actor, who’s busy preparing for the launch of his action film Jaat, revealed that post-production work on Lahore 1947 is ongoing and Aamir is meticulously working to ensure the movie delivers the intended impact before it hits the screens.
The movie we began earlier is indeed arriving, but it seems to be taking a bit longer due to the fact that Aamir Khan, who is the producer, is meticulously working on the editing process. He wants everything to be just right, ensuring precision and perfection in every aspect of the film. (That film we started earlier is definitely coming, but it’s taking slightly more time because Aamir Khan, as the producer, is aiming for perfection during the editing stage).
It’s noteworthy that Lahore 1947 brings Sunny Deol and director Rajkumar Santoshi together again, a duo who have previously produced hits like Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak. Interestingly, Aamir Khan also has a history with Santoshi, having worked together on Andaz Apna Apna, making this project significant in that aspect as well.
30 years after their collaboration in the 1996 film Ghatak, Sunny Deol expressed his thoughts about reuniting with Rajkumar Santoshi by saying, “I believe everyone is eager to see us work together again due to our three successful films – Ghayal, Ghatak, and Damini. It’s been a long time coming for us to join forces again. In fact, we have been working on Lahore 1947 for quite some time now. Several actors have heard the story, and others were supposed to be part of it, but things didn’t work out. However, Gadar 2 has made this reunion possible,” shared the actor.
I must say, collaborating with this visionary filmmaker was an invigorating journey for me. We constantly pushed one another, fostering a creative environment that yielded exceptional results. And speaking of results, I’m eagerly anticipating the success of Lahore 1947; my hope is that it resonates with audiences in much the same way our last three films did.
For the first time, Aamir Khan is taking on the role of producer for a movie headlined by Sunny Deol. Discussing their partnership and the photo of the three of them that became popular on social media, Sunny expressed his delight when Aamir expressed interest in producing the film, considering he’s an actor as well. Sunny also shared that the film is shaping up nicely and he eagerly anticipates the audience’s reaction to it.
Besides Sunny Deol, the film “Lahore 1947” also stars notable actors such as Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol in significant roles, along with other talented individuals.
