Mike Birbiglia will return to Netflix for his next stand-up special.

Comedian Mike Birbiglia’s newest stand-up show, titled “Mike Birbiglia: The Good Life,” is scheduled to debut on the streaming platform on May 26. This will mark his fourth special on Netflix (and the sixth of his career), approximately 18 months following the Emmy-nominated “The Old Man and the Pool” from 2023.

In typical fashion for a Birbiglia performance, “The Good Life” integrates humor and narrative, with the comedian sharing anecdotes based on his personal experience of his father experiencing a stroke. This event prompted him to reassess his perspectives on parenthood.

Throughout my career, I’ve performed many personal shows, but this one stands out as particularly intimate because it reflects my current life experiences. As a result, there’s no barrier between the audience and me. During the tour, there were moments when I questioned whether to share certain stories, but that’s the essence of these performances – delving into the most challenging aspects to uncover the humor.

Mike Birbiglia’s repertoire of Netflix specials will expand to include “The Good Life“, joining previous works such as “The Old Man and the Pool, The New One” from 2019 and “Thank God for Jokes” from 2017. Besides these, he has two other specials under his belt: “What I Should Have Said Was Nothing“, initially aired on Comedy Central in 2008, and “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend“, released on Netflix in 2013 but produced independently from the streaming service.

Seth Barrish, who oversaw four of Birbiglia’s previous specials (excluding “What I Should Have Said Was Nothing”), takes the reins for “The Good Life“. Birbiglia, John Skidmore (under his Best Kept Secret label) and Joe Birbiglia serve as executive producers.
