Warner Bros. Was Previously Sued By An Extra Over Russell Brand’s Conduct. Now They’re Handing Over Hours Of Outtakes

In the U.K., Russell Brand is dealing with severe criminal allegations involving sexual assault and rape, stemming from various incidents spanning from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. Apart from these charges, a lawsuit against Brand is also progressing, leading Warner Brothers to release extensive footage of movie outtakes.

Over the past few years, numerous accusations have surfaced against Russell Brand. Behavior that was once perceived as unacceptable or problematic from the actor has taken on a new perspective after investigations by British media outlets revealed allegations of assault. These revelations sparked further claims against him, including criminal complaints that are now being pursued.

Outtakes From 2011’s Arthur Remake Are Part Of An Ongoing Lawsuit Against Russell Brand

In the same year when Brand faced significant accusations in the U.K., an anonymous woman who worked as an extra on the 2011 movie “Arthur,” produced by Warner Bros., filed a lawsuit against both Russell Brand and the studio. The woman alleges that Brand exposed himself to her and physically harassed her during different occurrences on set. Both Brand and Warner Bros. have refuted any wrongdoing, but they are now collaborating with the plaintiff and have consented to share footage from the film totaling between 4-8 hours.

Based on Variety’s report, Warner Bros (WB) proposed to hand over the footage, implying that this action wasn’t compelled by a court order. It isn’t clear whether the plaintiff suspects something particular in the footage or if WB is taking precautions to ensure they have all relevant information. The primary accusations are directed towards Brand, but it’s claimed that other crew members assisted Brand in the alleged assault, which might explain why WB has been involved in the lawsuit directly.

Russell Brand May Face Even More Criminal Charges

On both sides of the ocean, similar legal matters concerning Brand arose in an American court, where his lawyers petitioned for postponement of the lawsuit due to potential overlaps with a criminal trial in the UK regarding assault and rape allegations. Regrettably, their request was turned down. Brand is set to stand trial at the UK court on these charges in May.

Due to numerous accusations, Russell Brand’s management team parted ways with him. Additionally, it is said that he faced job losses following complaints about his conduct.

It’s possible that Brand’s legal troubles may not be over yet, as his lawyer Mark Cuccaro mentioned in court that Brand holds a “reasonable belief” he could face criminal charges in the U.S., based on the allegations against him. Although no official investigation into Brand has been disclosed, there might be one ongoing secretly.
