Arcade Fire Announce First New Album In Three Years, Release New Single

In a development since allegations of sexual misconduct against frontman Win Butler surfaced in 2022, Arcade Fire has unveiled their first new album, titled “Pink Elephant,” set for release next month. Moreover, the band has debuted the initial single from the album, named “Year of The Snake,” on Tuesday.

A statement about the upcoming album explains the concept of a pink elephant as a peculiar phenomenon where trying not to think about something makes it impossible not to think about it. On the other hand, “Year of the Snake” signifies the Lunar New Year in 2025 and symbolizes renewal, as Arcade Fire experiences rebirth once more, similar to a snake shedding its skin.

It appears the band has seemingly chosen to move past the claims of sexual misconduct that surfaced against Butler three years ago. In these allegations, five women accused the vocalist, through articles published in Pitchfork, of such misconduct. Butler, who has been wedded to Arcade Fire member Régine Chassagne since 2003, admitted to having had sexual encounters with the women but maintained that they were consensual.

Three months following the release of their sixth album titled “We,” accusations emerged, causing Beck and Feist to withdraw as the opening acts for the band’s tour promoting that record. Notably, “We” was nominated for the alternative music album of the year at the 2023 Grammy Awards, but unfortunately, the band didn’t win; instead, Wet Leg took home the award.

Pink Elephant made an announcement following their recent launch of the ‘Circle of Trust’ app, offering exclusive Arcade Fire news and content. In the near future, Arcade Fire plans to reveal concerts in selected cities where they will perform their entire album live.
