- Playing together while exploring Milan
- City Safari is a primarily digital experience
- Tons of other trainers flooded the area
It’s no surprise that I’m quite fond of Pokemon Go, and whenever they organize real-life, community gatherings, my excitement levels skyrocket at the thought of meeting fellow enthusiasts. The City Safari events initiated last year, with Barcelona being one of the first cities to host them. Unlike other locations, Barcelona doesn’t have many interactive features but instead encourages players to discover diverse cultures and geographical regions within Pokemon Go.
Three spots in Milan offered Pokemon Go enthusiasts special items such as codes, stickers, and a paper hat when they presented a ticket for the Safari event. The major activities transpired within the app itself. To encourage trainers, the probability of encountering Shiny characters increased, more stops appeared, and certain Pokemon could exclusively be caught during this event. A unique version of Eevee, donning an adorable hat, was also up for grabs through a time-bound event. This particular Eevee was quite rare, and its backdrop showcased Milan’s scenery – an impressive touch indeed.
Along with Safari Eevee, which could be completed in under an hour if you go to the right location, there were also spawns like Corsola – the version primarily found only in America – and Mudbray (along with its shiny form), which was released specifically for this event. I spent a lot of time catching and focusing on these Pokemon, as I very much wanted to get as many Shinys as possible. Even with catching over 300 Mudbray, I still only got one! It’s very much an event focused on catching, though there were plenty of other trainers jumping in Raids or Max battles along the way.
Although primarily known for its Pokemon Go aspect, the Go Safari uniquely emphasizes showcasing unfamiliar locations. You’ll frequently find an array of new stores and higher Pokemon spawns near popular tourist attractions. It’s fascinating that you can discover new parts of countries while enjoying your preferred game simultaneously.
We hung out near the Doumo for a while and felt compelled to enter, largely because of our extended stay in its vicinity! Additionally, we wandered around Chinatown, grabbing some delicious food along the way. I believe that’s what makes Go Safari so appealing – it feels like a self-guided tour, allowing you to discover places that pique your curiosity at your leisure.
The city was abuzz with excitement – it was effortless to identify fellow Pokemon enthusiasts! In the end, I swapped a Pokemon exclusive to England with an individual who hadn’t done so before. It was quite enjoyable and provided a unique opportunity to explore a fresh part of the globe.
