Did you know Taapsee Pannu’s Thappad co-star Pavail Gulati was advised against doing the movie? Actor spills the beans

In the 2020 drama film Thappad, Taapsee Pannu delivered a powerful portrayal. The story, directed by Anubhav Sinha, tells of a woman’s journey battling societal prejudice and injustice to uphold her dignity. Alongside Taapsee, Pavail Gulati played an antagonistic role that garnered critical acclaim. Interestingly, you might not know that Pavail was initially discouraged from taking on this role in the film! Keep reading to find out more!

Previously, Pavail Gulati appeared in secondary roles in Kalank and Ghost Stories. However, it was his performance as Vikram Sabharwal in Thappad that brought him into the limelight. In this film, he portrayed the husband of Amrita Sabharwal (played by Taapsee Pannu). At a party, he disrespected her by slapping her, which eventually led to their separation and Amrita’s struggle for self-respect.

Although his convincing performance as an abusive husband in ‘Thappad’ earned him praise from many, he was cautioned against taking on the role. However, he disregarded this advice, stating, “The most questionable guidance I received was when someone read the script for ‘Thappad’ and urged me not to be a part of it. Thankfully, I didn’t heed that advice.

In the same conversation, Pavail Gulati, who starred in “Made in Heaven,” reminisced about valuable guidance he received from director Anubhav Sinha during filming. Sinha advised him that if a movie becomes successful, there would be instances when his future films might not do as well. Therefore, Pavail should remember not to view success as the end goal, and similarly, not to let setbacks define him too much. In other words, Sinha encouraged him to maintain balance in both triumphs and failures by understanding that life continues regardless of these outcomes.

Currently on professional duties, Pavail Gulati recently appeared in the movie “Deva” alongside Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde. He portrayed the character of ACP Rohan D’Silva in Rosshan Andrrews’ action-packed thriller.
