Is Deadpool Being Teased In Marvel Rivals?

NetEase keeps stirring anticipation by unveiling additional Marvel Rivals characters through an in-game backstory hinting at a “red-suited individual.” This has sparked enthusiasm among fans, who speculate that characters such as Daredevil or Deadpool might join the roster.

Given that NetEase intends to unveil a fresh hero each month, there’s excitement among fans as they ponder whether these monthly releases could potentially hint at the introduction of the next upcoming character, following in the footsteps of Marvel’s lethal AI.

Who Is This Strange Man in Red?

In a fresh Squirrel Girl tale as shared by Miller Ross, Psylocke brings up a mysterious ‘red-clad man’ whom she had employed to locate her. This is the content of the post.

[Logan] navigated through dimensions and followed a peculiar man dressed in red, as he was dispatched to locate me.

In this narrative, the character referred to as Logan is modeled after Wolverine but with wolf characteristics and a healing ability. He was Sai’s partner in the fictional Demon Days universe where Marvel characters are set within a mythical feudal Japan. There are soon to be several new skins inspired by the Peach Momoko comic, and it’s anticipated that they will become available when the comic itself is published.

Indeed, let’s revisit the ‘Man in Red’. Some people believe this could possibly hint at Deadpool. Given that Deadpool was among the leaked characters for the game, it wouldn’t be surprising if he had some sort of conflict with a Logan variant. After all, they have become intertwined universes now.

Indeed, there are other red Marvel characters, leading some to speculate that the man might be Daredevil. However, since we haven’t been shown designs for other characters yet, it’s also possible that NetEase could be hinting towards Hit-Monkey or Paste Pot Pete/Trapster instead.

It’s possible that they might be subtly referring to the upcoming major antagonist (perhaps Mephisto), yet at this point, Deadpool appears to be our strongest choice for the ‘mystery man in red’.

Change of Plans

Instead of having Seasons lasting for three months as initially planned by Marvel Rivals, they have decided to abbreviate them due to the extensive array of characters. This means that a fresh character will be introduced approximately every 30 days.

In terms of Season 2, it appears fans might need to be patient a bit longer for Ultron’s appearance. However, by Season 3 (approximately commencing in July), fans can anticipate a consistent rollout of playable characters. If the leaks are accurate, then this would suggest that NetEase has enough characters lined up over the next two years to maintain interest for an extended period.

Marvel Rivals has debuted its second series, making it available for gameplay on Xbox Series X|S, PCs, and PlayStation 5.
