‘White Lotus’ Star Ready to Jump Back In!

Online discussions about the somewhat contentious finale of The White Lotus Season 3, created by Mike White, continue to spark. Unlike previous seasons that saw just one major character perish, this season ended with several key characters meeting their end. However, as each new season introduces a diverse cast, characters like Daphne from Season 2, expertly portrayed by Meghann Fahy, manage to survive. MovieWeb recently interviewed Fahy for her upcoming Blumhouse film Drop, and she also shared her thoughts on the popular HBO series.

Fahy shared that she’s caught up with the most recent season set in Thailand, sparking fans’ curiosity about the location for the next installment and which surviving characters could make a comeback. When asked if she’d be open to reprising her role, Fahy enthusiastically expressed, “Absolutely! It was an incredible journey!” She added, “I’d jump at the chance.

During this period, watch Fahy take center stage with an outstanding portrayal in the Christopher Landon movie titled “Drop“, a name inspired by the handy smartphone function that enables users to quickly share photos and messages with nearby people. Ever used AirDrop? Sometimes it can be trickier than it sounds, but this everyday technology forms the backbone of a chilling night out where Fahy’s character faces numerous challenges as she tries to protect her family. “It’s not something I encounter daily,” said Fahy about the “drop” element in the plot, going on to remark:

In my perspective, one aspect that resonated with me deeply about the script was the fact that I could immerse myself in it, and undeniably, the technological element played a significant role in this immersion. However, as I delved into it, the tech aspect didn’t stand out as prominently as you might expect. Instead, it read like a timeless thriller, one that could easily have been penned years ago.

Meghann Fahy Plays a “Reverse Damsel-in-Distress” in ‘Drop’

Despite portraying the intricate character Daphne in “The White Lotus,” Violet, as seen in “Drop,” may be Fahy’s most challenging role yet. This time around, Violet is a single mother, struggling to come to terms with her troubled past which includes the loss of her husband. Now, she’s stepping back into the dating world for the first time since then, going on a date with Henry, a charismatic but potentially disastrous man played by Brandon Sklenar from “It Ends With Us.

In a conversation with us, Fahy shared his enthusiasm for an idea that Chris and he discussed, which he found captivating as it was essentially a reversal of the traditional damsel-in-distress tale. Instead of the typical hero, Henry finds himself in a role similar to that of the damsel, unaware of it. In contrast, Violet takes on the heroic role, making the storyline intriguing and exciting for Fahy. Additionally, he was eager about the action sequences because they were something new for him. You can catch Fahy in action now as Drop, released by Universal Pictures, hits theaters on April 11, 2025.
