Jessica Capshaw Says She Lost ‘White Lotus’ Role to Leslie Bibb, But Plans to “Keep Auditioning” for Show

Jessica Capshaw has her eyes set on another hit show following her time on Grey’s Anatomy.

Actress who portrayed Dr. Arizona Robbins on a popular medical drama for ten seasons has revealed on her and Camilla Luddington’s “Call It What It Is” podcast that she auditioned for season three of “The White Lotus”, but it was Leslie Bibb who ended up getting the part instead.

During the audition process for Leslie Bibb’s character, I recall feeling incredibly thrilled because I’m such an ardent admirer of the series,” she explained about trying out for the role of Kate.

Capshaw went on to say, “It’s always exciting to assemble an audition and watch where it leads, then see it turn into reality. What’s incredibly amazing and wild about the casting process – and perhaps not surprising – is that we’re all unique, and each of us has a different perspective on it.

She continued to commend Bibb for her outstanding role as part of the three-girl ensemble, alongside Carrie Coon’s Laurie and Michelle Monaghan’s Jaclyn, who were spending time at The White Lotus resort in Thailand this season. “As I watched Leslie,” Capshaw expressed, “I was captivated, thinking ‘Oh my god.’ She was absolutely fantastic.

Despite securing a role in season three of Mike White’s popular HBO series, the actress intends to continue auditioning. She mentioned that she had to try several times before getting her part on Grey’s Anatomy in 2009, so she doesn’t want to stop now.

I plan to try out, I’ll continue trying out. That’s what I did for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’,” Capshaw expressed. “I was a big fan of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and thought, ‘I’ll audition every time!’ And I gave it three tries, so I’m hoping it’ll only take two for Mike White and ‘The White Lotus’. I’ll just keep at it.
