Marvel Rivals Finally Lets Gold Rank Players Use Hero Bans

In this updated version: The second installment of Marvel Rivals has arrived, and we find ourselves treading on the living island of Krakoa alongside Emma Frost as our ally. With Ultron causing disarray at the Hellfire Gala, this new season introduces more than just playable characters – it also offers fresh narrative components to the game.

This season, NetEase will implement a major shift by allowing hero bans starting from Gold III Rank. This move is particularly beneficial for new players who have recently reached Gold level, as it allows them to block certain characters or alter the game’s meta by excluding overpowered picks such as Magneto or Emma Frost from the match lobby.

Previously, in Seasons 1.5 and earlier, you needed to attain Diamond Rank, which is six tiers above Gold III, to have the ban option available. This meant players had to progress through Gold and Platinum ranks before reaching that level, a challenging and sometimes disheartening process. Many found it hard to persevere. However, it’s great news that the banning phases now commence at Gold III, making the game more accessible for a broader range of players.

In Gold-level matches, a new element has been introduced: the option to ban certain characters. Typically, it’s heroes like Spider-Man, with his aggravating swing-and-dodge mobility, Bucky with his repetitive “Again!”, or threats like Hela and Hawkeye that are commonly banned due to their precision. Now, with bans allowed at Gold III, players can strategize more effectively before the match starts by eliminating potential challenges from the get-go.

NetEase has rolled out another major improvement for Marvel Rivals, focusing on enhancing player experience. Alongside modifications in bans, Season 2 brings a fresh competitive element – individual score points. This means top performers will still be recognized and rewarded, even if their team doesn’t win the game. Furthermore, an innovative graphics setting is being tested to minimize RAM usage and boost overall performance.

The second season is off to an exciting kickoff! Starting from May, Ultron will be added to the lineup, following the regular monthly introduction of a new character. However, we wonder if this swift tempo can be sustained. Tune in for our insights on the matter.
