Randeep Hooda reveals he was ‘depressed’ after Battle of Saragarhi was shelved due to Akshay Kumar’s Kesari: ‘Woh picture ki shooting bhi…’

Randeep Hooda, who’s been drawing attention for his villainous role in the film Jaat alongside Sunny Deol, recently opened up about a major setback in his career. The actor spoke of his three-year investment on a movie based on the Battle of Saragarhi. Regrettably, the production was halted following the release of Kesari, where Akshay Kumar starred. Hooda expressed, “The shooting for that film had even begun,” and disclosed that he felt downhearted due to its cancellation.

In a recent chat with Shubhankar Mishra, Randeep Hooda expressed that the interruption and eventual non-release of the movie “Battle of Saragarhi” left him feeling quite disheartened.

Actor Hooda shared that he deeply cared about the movie and turned down substantial roles to stay loyal to the historical war drama, Kesari. He expressed his displeasure that the production of Kesari started while his own project was still underway, which he felt was not done appropriately.

In simpler terms, the actor from the movie “Kick” stated that he believed the creators of “Kesari” showed disregard for him by continuing their project, even though he already had a different movie based on the same topic in development. He shared that about 30-40% of his film was completed before it was unexpectedly halted.

Looking back at the project, I found myself reflecting on its incompletion. It became clear that the unfinished state was largely due to the self-serving actions of a select few. Moreover, as the sole Sikh actor cast, I couldn’t help but notice the lack of other Sikh actors involved in the production.

In a heartfelt disclosure, the 48-year-old actor expressed his dedication to playing his Sikh role authentically and profoundly, striving to steer clear of the shallow portrayals commonly observed in previous movies.

Hooda shared that the foundation of his film concept stemmed from deeply ingrained Sikh principles and feelings. He explained that the project’s development was heavily influenced by the profound spirit of Sikhism. Furthermore, he disclosed that he had made a vow before the Guru Granth Sahib as a symbol of his commitment to the endeavor.

In his dedication towards the Battle of Saragarhi, Randeep declined an offer for a part in the next installment of Extraction. This underlines just how deeply and sincerely involved he was with this project. He expressed this devotion by stating that he had taken a vow, before the holy scripture Guru Granth Sahib.

Indeed, the actor confessed that the cancellation of the movie deeply saddened him. This turn of events had a strong emotional effect on him, causing him to experience an extended period of severe depression after the film’s demise.
