As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share the news about Unimatic’s latest masterpiece – the Modello Due Ref. U2-KKD. In partnership with the historic Japanese brand Kaikado and creative agency ERG Media, we’ve crafted a refined field watch that embodies elegance and tradition.
Exclusively available in a limited edition of 150 pieces, the U2-KKD pays tribute to Kaikado’s 150 years of artisanship. Renowned for their intricate tea caddies, each piece takes 130 precise steps to create, a method that has remained unchanged since 1875.
One distinctive aspect is the well-polished, circular silver dial made with the intricate methods inherited from six generations of Kaikado craftsmen. This dial showcases emblems of both Kaikado and ERG Media, along with flat black skeleton hands, all shielded by a 2.7 mm thick, double-domed sapphire crystal with an ultra-clear coating.
This watch is housed within a brushed stainless steel casing, boasting a water resistance of up to 300 meters. Powered by a Japanese NH35A automatic movement, it offers a 41-hour power reserve and precise hacking seconds. The strap is made from a worn gray leather material, equipped with quick-release hardware for easy adjustment. It comes packed in Unimatic’s robust, signature case, ready to be shipped.
Each item showcases a special screw-down caseback that bears the names of all three collaborators. The U2-KKD can now be pre-ordered through Unimatic’s official website for €750 EUR ($850 USD) and is expected to start shipping on October 1, 2025.
