Thunderbolts* Cosmetics They Should Consider for Marvel Rivals

In a short while, The Thunderbolts will grace cinema screens, and while only Bucky is currently playable in Marvel Rivals, NetEase would be wise to invest in cosmetic items that mirror the characters appearing in the upcoming film.

In case non-playable variations or spin-offs of heroes, such as Red Hulk, don’t make it into the game, here’s a potential list of Thunderbolts member skins that might simply be used to customize existing heroes within the game instead.

Yelena Belova (Black Widow)

It’s logical to imagine a character skin for Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh, that mirrors the abilities of a Black Widow agent, with Yelena’s face replacing Natasha Romanoff’s. Ideally, this skin should feature a new facial model and hairstyle. Additionally, some fans might appreciate unique voice lines for Yelena that more closely resemble Pugh’s distinctive voice.

US Agent/John Walker (Captain America)

Among the trio of characters in the Thunderbolts group that could potentially represent Captain America, a US Agent version seems fitting. This character might showcase a darkened shield and a black suit, symbolizing a shift from the original Captain America’s look. Given that John Walker possesses super-soldier abilities similar to Steve Rogers, it makes sense for him to inherit all of the original Captain America’s powers.

He should come with some meaner voice lines though.

Red Guardian (Captain America)

In simpler terms, the second spin-off character from Captain America, known as Red Guardian, makes an excellent alternative skin for the original Captain America. While they share similar abilities, Red Guardian has a rougher appearance and may have a more defined midsection. Additionally, he comes with his own Red Guardian shield and features voice lines that are themed around patriotism for Mother Russia.

Congressman Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier)

It’s fortunate that Captain America spin-off No. 3, Bucky, is playable in the game on his own. Though his appearance in Thunderbolts seems quite close to his default game skin, it would be delightful if they could provide us with a Bucky suit that coordinates with Steve Rogers’ Hellfire Gala outfit as well.

*Note: In this context, Thunderbolts refers to the Marvel Comics team and not the movie or video game series.

Taskmaster (Hawkeye)

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Taskmaster is renowned for mimicking any fighting technique, yet in the comics, he’s often depicted carrying various weapons. The sword-and-shield combination is perhaps his most recognized, but he’s also proficient with a bow and arrow—many of these weapons are associated with Hawkeye.

Although many fans are confident that Taskmaster will undeniably meet his end in Thunderbolts*, it’s still worth considering introducing a playable character skin for him in the game, just in case.

Ghost (Invisible Woman)

In simpler terms, Ghost is a nemesis of Ant-Man in the Marvel universe, possessing abilities to become invisible and pass through walls. On the other hand, Sue Storm from Marvel Rivals may not have wall-penetrating powers, but she can move stealthily across the map, making her an excellent foundation for emulating Ghost’s stealthy nature.

Interestingly, given Ghost’s hacking skills from the comics, she could indeed be an ideal character design or “skin” for Overwatch’s Sombra.

Sentry.Void (Adam Warlock or Cloak & Dagger)

Among all the characters on the list, Adam Warlock bears a striking resemblance to Sentry, what with their long blonde hair and billowing capes. This makes Adam an ideal model for a Sentry skin. Even though Sentry’s overpowered abilities might prevent him from joining Marvel Rivals, it would certainly be exciting if we could experience Sentry through the lens of Adam Warlock, particularly in his role of healing his teammates.

In an alternate scenario, if it wasn’t Adam, the adaptable nature of Sentry/Void would make an ideal fit for a character such as Cloak & Dagger who alternately take on roles in the game. If altering Dagger’s body model is too extensive, they could simply dress her in a blue and yellow suit to mimic Sentry’s colors without necessarily making her become the character herself.

To date, we haven’t received any indications about a potential release of Thunderbolts cosmetics, but since May is still a ways off, there’s ample time for NetEase to create at least one or two new Marvel Cinematic Universe skins inspired by the movie.

On May 2, the movie “Thunderbolt” will be released in cinemas. As of now, the game “Marvel Rivals” is accessible to play on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers.
