Family Equality has aimed to recognize a prominent Hollywood duo at their Night at the Pier gala, scheduled for May 12th.
Jason Weinberg, co-founder of Untitled Entertainment and his screenwriting spouse Merritt Johnson will receive the Luigi Caiola Luminary Award at a New York event honoring love, equality, family, and inspiration, as well as the 10th anniversary of marriage equality in the U.S., which was established by the 2015 Supreme Court case Obergefell v. Hodges.
In this version, I aimed to make the sentence more concise and easier to understand while maintaining its original meaning. The event is being held to celebrate love, equality, family, and inspiration, as well as a significant milestone in marriage equality in the U.S. (the 10th anniversary) that was brought about by the Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court case.
At the event, renowned clients and friends such as Oscar nominee Demi Moore, Marlo Thomas, and Debbie Harry will pay tribute to their honor. Additionally, Peggy Gillespie, co-founder and director of Family Diversity Projects, will be presented with the Hostetter-Habib Family Award by esteemed choreographer Bill T. Jones. The evening’s agenda also includes talent performances from various Broadway shows like The Outsiders, Six, The Wiz, Kimberly Akimbo, Some Like it Hot, and others.
Family Equality CEO Darra Gordon stated that this occasion signifies more than just a passing instant; it’s a wave of change,” explained. “We aren’t merely recognizing the strength of LGBTQ+ families; we are proactively supporting their future. Every narrative, every melody, every donation is a pivotal spark in a world where our families are not only appreciated, but ensured comprehensive legal and social safeguards, both now and for the foreseeable future.
For the upcoming event next month, Neil Patrick Harris, David Burtka, and Nick Scandalios have been designated as honorary chairs. The honorary committee consists of Kristin Caskey, Bruce Cohen, Gabe Catone, John Gore, Kevin Huvane, Jef Kaplan, Amanda Green, Bryan Lourd, Bruce Bozzi, Joe Machota, Michael Russell, Margo and James L. Nederlander, Zac Posen, Harrison Ball, Lauren Reid, Daryl Roth, and Robert E. Wankel.
