Annie Weisman’s adaptation of Araminta Hall’s book is set to be executive produced by Moss and Washington, as well. Kinnaman was in “The Silent Hour,” a crime thriller directed by Brad Anderson. Future works include the action film “The Beast” and Netflix’s mystery series “Harry Hole.
In the psychological thriller “Imperfect Women,” Kinnaman will portray the character Robert. The story revolves around a crime that disrupts a long-standing friendship among three women, forcing them to confront complex emotions like guilt, retribution, love, and betrayal. As the mystery unfolds, it reveals how time can transform even the most intimate relationships, according to the producers’ synopsis. In other words, the investigation not only uncovers the truth about the crime but also exposes how friendships can evolve over the years, showing both their strength and vulnerability.
In Hall’s novel, the story unfolds following the murder of Nancy Hennessy. Her two closest friends, Eleanor and Mary, are left behind to grapple with a perfect life that included an admiring husband and daughter. However, there was also a secret lover in her life whom she kept hidden from everyone. As the investigation into her death stagnates, disturbing aspects of Hennessy’s life come to light, causing Eleanor and Mary to question not only their best friend but also each other and perhaps even themselves, as they realize how little they truly knew about her and possibly themselves too.
The series titled “Imperfect Women” is set to premiere on Apple TV+, jointly produced by 20th Television and Apple Studios. Additionally, Lindsey McManus, who holds the rights for the book through her production company Moss, Love & Squalor Pictures, will serve as an executive producer.
