If you only play one or two games annually, it might be more cost-effective for you to simply purchase those individual games instead of subscribing to the Game Pass service.

It’s important to mention that alongside gaining access to Xbox’s vast collection of games, Game Pass also provides day one releases, allowing players to play brand-new games on the very same day they are launched. PC and Xbox

It’s clear that the PS5 has swiftly outperformed the Xbox Series X|S in sales, yet Spencer acknowledges that Microsoft is still thriving in the PC sector of their product line. As Spencer explains, “Our main areas of expansion at the moment are PC and Cloud. This makes sense because, while consoles overall remain a profitable and established business, they’re not currently experiencing significant growth within the gaming industry.

Despite some critics deeming the Xbox Series X|S as more technologically advanced, it failed to surpass PlayStation in terms of exclusive titles. On the flip side, Sony has faced criticism for not consistently unveiling standout exclusives at a pace one might expect from them. To put it another way, they can’t just keep releasing The Last of Us over and over again.

Console Wars Aftermath

Currently, it appears that Xbox is leaning towards non-exclusivity, choosing to distribute their games across multiple platforms. However, they still prioritize releasing games on Xbox initially, delaying their availability on other platforms for several months to a year, much like what happened with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

For those with Game Pass subscriptions, playing numerous games is certainly a worthwhile investment. Microsoft’s acquisition of game studios such as Bethesda and Blizzard demonstrates a strong competitive spirit, yet the most advantageous outcome for consumers might be to make their games accessible across multiple platforms rather than limiting them exclusively to Xbox.
