On April 17, 2025, Anurag Kashyap voiced his criticism on Instagram stories, accusing the government of excessive film censorship. He further discussed the caste system in India. Now, he has alleged that his daughter, family members, and friends have been subjected to rape threats for expressing their opinions similar to his.
In a recent Instagram post, the director of Black Friday expressed his sincere apologies. He acknowledged that one line in particular was misconstrued and sparked unnecessary hatred. He clarified that no statement or action justifies subjecting anyone’s daughter, loved ones, friends, or colleagues to rape and death threats from influential figures.

He continued, “What was said cannot be taken back nor repeated, but feel free to express yourself. My family hasn’t said or done anything. If an apology is what you require, here it is. Spare women, Brahmin people, this sentiment is also found in scriptures, not just human values. As for the rest, I apologize.
In his previous post, Anurag stated that during the screening of Dhadak 2, the censor board claimed Modi ji had eradicated the caste system in India. However, even though this was the case, Santosh wasn’t released either. Now, it seems as though the Brahmins have an issue with Phule.
