Marvel Studios has an intriguing release plan for the movie Thunderbolts*, which promises to make the culmination of Phase 5 of the MCU thrilling.
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I embarked on an incredible cinematic journey starting with the premiere of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” back in 2023. This exciting phase of filmmaking spanned over two years and featured more than a dozen mind-blowing projects, culminating in its grand finale – the movie “Thunderbolts.” In June, I’ll be eagerly anticipating the final Phase 5 television series, entitled “Ironheart.” Each step along this cinematic journey has been nothing short of breathtaking!
I must admit, some folks have their doubts about Thunderbolts, but as a fan, I can’t help but feel it could be just what Marvel Studios needs to round off this somewhat varied phase of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.

Thunderbolts* Is Getting an Exciting Early Release
Marvel Studios unveiled an exclusive release plan for its concluding Phase 5 movie, “Thunderbolts,” scheduling preliminary fan viewings to occur nationwide in the United States.
As a dedicated cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that movie enthusiasts residing in certain U.S. cities have the exclusive opportunity to catch a sneak peek of Thunderbolts* on April 22, a full ten days prior to its nationwide release on May 2!
Enthusiasm for the Marvel Studios film, “Thunderbolts,” seems to be running high, with tickets selling out swiftly on the very day they became available.
These fan previews demonstrate Marvel Studios’ faith in their upcoming Phase 5 MCU movie, since the early showings will enable favorable opinions to circulate after the events.
According to recent updates, the Thunderbolts movie review restrictions are being lifted early, suggesting that this could be another indication of the film’s high caliber.
Marvel Studios Ends Phase 5 With a Bang
As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can’t help but feel excited and hopeful about the prospects of “Thunderbolts.” With Marvel Studios expressing such faith in this project, it seems like they’re ready to turn things around and counterbalance some of the negative vibes that accumulated during Phase 5.
The start of Phase 5 faced some turbulence upon the release of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” as it was initially intended to introduce the main antagonist of the Multiverse Saga, Kang the Conqueror. However, these plans were disrupted following the arrest of lead actor Jonathan Majors.
During this phase for Marvel, there have been a number of films that received negative critical reception. For instance, Ant-Man 3 garnered an unusually low rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Captain America: Brave New World earned less than 50%. Even The Marvels, though better reviewed critically, struggled to perform well financially.
During Phase 5, there were victorious releases such as “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “Deadpool & Wolverine,” however, these successes took place during a somewhat unstable period for the studio.
Even though Thunderbolts may become an enormous hit, it’s not likely to significantly alter the overall perception of Phase 5. However, should the film achieve success, it would certainly keep the Marvel Cinematic Universe in high gear as we approach Phase 6, starting in July with The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
