Hayden Christensen to Return as Anakin in Ahsoka Season 2

In the second season of Disney+’s show, viewers will delight in the return not only of the series but also a character who’s quite familiar. It’s been over two decades since Hayden Christensen initially portrayed Anakin Skywalker, who transformed from a would-be-Jedi to the infamous Sith lord. He reprised this role in “Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” and lent his voice to “Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker.

In 2022, Hayden Christensen reprised his character as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the Disney+ series “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” More recently, he appeared as Anakin Skywalker in “Ahsoka” in 2023. It’s now been confirmed that the actor will reprise his role in Season 2 of this highly praised Disney+ series.

Anakin Will Be Back

In the upcoming Season 2 of Ahsoka, it’s been confirmed that Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Skywalker. This revelation was made during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo. Initially, the panel included Ahsoka’s star Rosario Dawson, creator Dave Filoni, and executive producer Jon Favreau. However, Christensen surprised everyone by appearing on stage towards the end to announce his return to the Star Wars universe.

“There’s not much I can share, but Anakin will be back for Season 2,” Christensen said.

Ahsoka Creator on Where Anakin Fits In

At the Star Wars Celebration, Filoni discussed his approach to continuing Anakin Skywalker’s story. “Anakin’s story has already been told by George (Lucas), and I don’t feel the need to add anything to it,” Filoni stated. “I have no intention of explaining or altering anything about it, as George did exactly what he intended, and it’s flawless. The narrative I’m focusing on is Ahsoka’s. Anakin appears in this story because he has a connection to her tale. I am being cautious with my work to ensure that I don’t alter or modify anything that George established.

In the second season, I’m excited to continue the journey with Ahsoka Tano, who is portrayed by Dawson and was once Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan. Alongside her, we have Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Huyang, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla. The charismatic Baylan Skoll, previously played by the late Ray Stevenson, will make a comeback in this season.

Could Natalie Portman Return?

With Christensen back, there might be speculation about Portman joining Ahsoka as well. According to a podcast, it’s quite possible that Portman could reappear. Harloff suggested that if it happens, it would likely involve some kind of “world-between-worlds” scenario, which seems fitting given the connection between Ewan McGregor and young Ahsoka. He mentioned that she’s open to the idea, but as of January, there was no signed deal yet, though he believes it’s close to being finalized.

Ahsoka is streaming on Disney+. The series is expected sometime later in 2025 or early in 2026.
