Frequently delves into the farthest corners of its cosmos, sometimes even brushing against the boundaries of another realm. Mostly, what it encounters are either ruthlessly destroyed by a malevolent ruler or barren wastelands uninhabitable to all but a few. Occasionally though, there are moments when one can marvel at breathtaking planets that deserve individual recognition.
Dragon Ball Z pioneered the exploration of various galaxies, introducing us not only to alien worlds but also offering tantalizing glimpses at Earth’s celestial neighbors. Across the cosmos lie an abundance of planets, each boasting unique characteristics that set them apart from one another. Among these, King Kai’s Planet, Yardrat, and Namek are standouts. However, which of the planets in this series have earned a place among the most breathtakingly beautiful within the entire franchise? Which planets possess an enchanting atmosphere and awe-inspiring landscapes to make them truly exceptional?
New Namek Has Untapped Potential
The new Namek, mirroring the one destroyed during the Frieza Saga, bears an uncanny resemblance to its ancient counterpart, even sporting a green ocean identical to the original. This remarkable planet, with its extraterrestrial allure and nostalgic familiarity, underscores Akira Toriyama’s artistic genius. Its distinctive characteristics, such as the tranquil, emerald-tinted skies and scattered patches of blue grass, echo this sentiment beautifully.
Though a bit worn, the scenery is incredibly awe-inspiring, inducing tranquility in any observer. Interestingly, the newly named planet mirrors the original Namek more perfectly, surpassing its former glory. The sight beyond the ocean and terrain is further enhanced by the slender trees with rounded tops and distinctive dwellings that add a visual touch of elegance.
Homes adorned with bubble windows sometimes sport spiky domes and tubular corridors, emphasizing their unique quirks. This entire planet radiates serenity, which seems intentional on the part of the Namekians when they settled on both Namek planets. With further development, this world could showcase its natural charm even more elegantly.
From Planet Plant to Planet Vegeta, Each Retelling Highlights Something New
Previously shattered into countless fragments, the majestic and rugged Planet Vegeta was home to versatile lifeforms that mirrored its diverse landscapes. This planet has been frequently revisited in flashbacks or, whether fictional or not, was the battleground for the fierce conflicts between Tuffles and Saiyans.
Throughout the Dragon Ball universe, various depictions of this world exist, ranging from the layout of the planet to the hue of its skies. Remarkably, each portrayal is unique enough to merit inclusion on such a list.
From the anime and Bardock special, we have Planet Vegeta, a unique planet with an otherworldly atmosphere, characterized by a reddish sky in one version and a more yellow tone in another filler episode. The former showcases a clash between the Saiyans and Tuffles, initially attempting coexistence before resorting to violence. In contrast, the latter presents two distinct lifestyles on the planet – the technologically advanced civilization of the Tuffle inhabitants, reminiscent of Earth in Dragon Ball, and the primitive ways of the Saiyan settlements hidden away.
Lastly, we have the “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” movie, which deviated from the fiery skies and opted for a color scheme reminiscent of Earth. Despite each depiction of this world being visually distinct, the most recent portrayal arguably stands out as the most breathtaking. The majority of its terrain resembles rocky spires that grow similar to trees and then bloom like the bulbous trees of Namek. This version also combines its rocky landscape with impressive architecture, such as King Vegeta’s palace, which can be seen in the promotional materials for the Broly film.
In this setting, you’ll find a palace majestically positioned atop a cliff, overlooking a vast expanse of green sea below. Noticeably, two moons encircle the planet, adding an intriguing touch to any view. However, not all parts of the planet showcase such grandeur symbolizing Saiyan power; there are also areas with a rustic appeal featuring uneven constructions or dome-like structures reminiscent of Namek.
Akira Toriyama Added Inventive Touches to Make Earth More Than a Backdrop
In the context of Dragon Ball, Earth stands out as a fittingly magnificent choice among the most stunning planets. Across all galaxies traversed and universes unveiled, no other planet boasts the diversity that Earth does. The depiction of Earth in Dragon Ball elevates familiar concepts to new heights with its advanced technology, harmonious existence of dinosaurs, and awe-inspiring landscapes.
This device uniquely introduces a fresh wave of ingenuity to our world, offering everything from miniature vehicles that materialize with the press of a button to mobile homes. The varied landscapes witnessed during the training or travel of the Z fighters range from barren deserts and dense forests to snowy tundras and towering mountain ranges. The original Dragon Ball series showcased these settings most effectively, focusing on distinct locations like Kami’s Lookout, Korin’s Tower, Kame House, among many others.
Creating Earth’s beauty was surprisingly effortless due to Akira’s real-life inspiration. Enhancing an already stunning world with imagination only makes Earth a strong candidate for the top spots among the best. However, there are still unexplored regions on our planet that could rival some Other World planets according to Dragon Ball.
Planet Heaven Offers a Dreamlike Experience Waiting To Be Explored
As a devoted fan, I truly believe that if an author chooses to name a planet “Heaven,” it ought to embody a sense of paradise and radiate perfection in every aspect. In the case of Akira Toriyama’s interpretation of Heaven, he certainly succeeded in creating a captivating image. Although the story doesn’t delve deeply into this celestial body to reveal all its hidden layers of beauty, it remains tantalizingly out of reach, leaving me yearning for more glimpses into this mesmerizing world. Each brief peek serves to leave an indelible impression on my mind.
This planet, within the realm of the Dragon Ball series, might be its largest in size. Given its significance as a key location, this isn’t surprising. There isn’t much revealed about this world, but certain scenes demonstrate why it’s called Heaven. For instance, viewers often witness a sprawling, radiant field of flowers that appears to go on forever.
This peaceful scenery exudes a divine aura, made even more powerful by the gentle, ethereal radiance that always seems to be there. The sky, reminiscent of pink cotton candy with delicate yellow clouds, adds an extra dimension to any view. If we could explore more of this world and delve deeper into its beauty, it could easily become the most stunning planet in the series.
From Floating Moons to Twilight Skies, This Planet Embodies Divine Peace
The holy realm of the Kai should be breathtakingly impressive. Remarkably, it fulfills this expectation with its numerous moons suspended in the sky, creating an eternal atmosphere that hints at a world almost unattainable. Just as when Dragon Ball Z portrays this planet, it seems as though time has come to a standstill, and nothing can disrupt its tranquility, much like when characters enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
Immersing yourself in such a peaceful environment seems like merging with the vast cosmos itself. The soothing tranquility here is largely due to this world’s unique purple-hued twilight sky. Additionally, the soft, flowing waterfalls scattered everywhere contribute significantly to the dreamlike quality of this planet. These calm streams eventually converge into a massive lake, reflecting the stars overhead in a grand and majestic manner.
Additionally, the mysterious ambiance is amplified by the massive trees dwarfing the typical cherry blossom trees along the heavenly lake. This celestial body radiates an unmatched level of majesty that no other planet can aspire to achieve. The enchanting splendor of this place makes it incomparable, which is why it’s difficult to find a more fitting term than breathtakingly beautiful to describe its aura.
