Salman Khan almost rejected Garv and it has Sunny Deol connection? Find out here

Before Salman Khan gained fame for his police role, aviator sunglasses, and dancing in Dabangg, he had previously played a cop in Puneet Issar’s 2004 film Garv: Pride and Honour. In a recent chat, Puneet revealed that Salman was initially reluctant about the movie, considering it to be more fitting for Sunny Deol’s acting style.

During an appearance on the YouTube channel Digital Commentary, Puneet Issar disclosed that he and Salman Khan have enjoyed a lasting friendship and professional relationship. He reminisced about informing Salman about a script he was working on, and upon hearing the plot of Garv, Salman voiced his admiration for it.

Yet, he raised doubts about why Puneet assigned the project to him, considering that the movie’s style seemed better suited for the action-oriented roles often associated with Sunny Deol, a genre Salman was less inclined towards during that period.

Puneet Issar revealed that he persistently encouraged Salman Khan to move beyond his well-known romantic and comical roles in films like Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Biwi No.1, and Judwaa. He felt that although Salman was already a massive star, it was the right moment for a change of image.

He reminded Sikandar’s actor that a modification was essential, and as soon as the actor aligned with the script for Garv, he consented to assume the part.

Puneet likened actors to untamed horses, indicating that only those who genuinely comprehend them can steer them effectively. Working alongside Salman, he expressed, was a delight, referring to him as a steadfast companion who wholeheartedly immersed himself in his character.

Puneet Issar shared that the famous hand gesture shown by Khan’s character in the movie Garv was actually based on a habit of his own.

As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t help but confess that I frequently employ a symbolic act to counterbalance individuals who don’t resonate with me. It turns out, Salman shares this peculiar perspective. Our bond was forged instantaneously when we discovered this shared concept.

The film titled “Garv” was where Puneet Issar made his directorial debut. It boasted an impressive lineup of talented actors such as Shilpa Shetty, Arbaaz Khan, and the legendary Amrish Puri.
