Chilling Teaser for Barbarian Director’s New Horror ‘Weapons’ Unveiled

One of the standout movies from 2022 was “Weapons”, directed by Zach Cregger, who’s now readying his latest endeavor for release. This chilling horror film boasts an impressive cast of well-known actors.

After the hit movie “Barbarian“, Cregger is now penning, producing, and directing the upcoming film titled “Weapons“. The horror flick is scheduled to hit screens on August 8th. Warner Bros. has recently unveiled a spine-tingling trailer for it. In “Weapons“, we follow a tiny town’s community as they grapple with the strange disappearances of several kids from the same class, all happening during one fateful night.

At 2:17 am, a 40-second preview kicks off. Meanwhile, in the dreamland of Maybrook, residents slumber unaware, while multiple surveillance cameras capture a band of kids fleeing synchronously, arms held out to their sides at the exact moment.

In the opening scene, the voiceover expresses empathy towards Mr. Graff, stating, “I can see your dedication, and I appreciate these discussions with you. If this were my own child, I would also be seeking answers.

The children exited the houses under their own volition; no one extracted or compelled them. Subsequently, additional children, as seen on various surveillance cameras, fled without any external influence.

The weapons are accompanied by an intelligent advertising strategy hinted at towards the end of the video. Warner Bros. has launched a fresh website for the fictional news outlet Maybrook News with the URL . This site showcases several security cameras capturing children fleeing at 2:17 am, as well as an article titled “Underground Prison Discovered in Rental Home,” which links back to the events depicted in the movie. Yet, it remains uncertain how these two stories are intertwined, as Barbarian takes place in Detroit and Weapons is set in a small Florida town; however, it seems they share the same universe based on the teaser.

On the primary webpage for the campaign, there’s a piece titled, “Seventeen Local Kids Step Out of Their Homes in Unison at 2:17 AM.

The enigmatic synopsis for the narrative titled “Weapons” goes as follows: “A spine-tingling enigma has enveloped the tranquil town of Maybrook, following 17 children mysteriously vanishing from their homes on a typical Wednesday morning. Local officials are left puzzled by this inexplicable event, an occurrence that has sent shockwaves through the entire community.

After examining the footage from the front door security camera, it was discovered that the kids exited their houses at 2:17 am on a Wednesday, without any evidence of forced entry. Since that time, few details have emerged, leaving the investigation team puzzled.

In reaction, a community meeting at the school took place, during which it became apparent that some parents were growing anxious. As the town attempts to make sense of recent events, authorities are still asking for any helpful information, leaving Maybrook in suspense until more details emerge.

Who Stars in Weapons?

2022’s “Barbarian” featured Georgina Campbell in the main role, alongside Justin Long. However, for this film, the director opted to bring together a star-studded cast. Among the notable Marvel actors appearing in the movie are Josh Brolin (Thanos from the Marvel Cinematic Universe), Julia Garner (set to appear in “The Marvels”), Benedict Wong (Wong from the MCU), as well as Alden Ehrenreich (known for “Solo: A Star Wars Story” and “Oppenheimer”), Cary Christopher, and Amy Madigan (from “The Hunt”).

Initially, it was planned for Pedro Pascal from “The Last of Us” to play the main character in the movie. Unfortunately, his obligations to “The Fantastic Four” prevented him from doing so, and thus, Josh Brolin stepped in to play the role instead.

Weapons comes out in theaters on Aug. 8.
