‘A Shop for Killers’ Renewed for Season 2 at Disney+

The fast-paced, thrilling South Korean series titled “A Shop for Killers” has been given the green light for another season on Disney+.

The story, titled “A Shop for Killers“, is adapted from the Korean novel by Kang Ji-young. It follows the life of Ji-an, a woman brought up by her enigmatic uncle who was a mercenary. After what seems to be her uncle’s demise, she inherits his lethal weapons shop and finds herself confronted by his adversaries. As dangerous assassins lurk around, we are taken back to her uncle’s turbulent past through flashbacks.

Inspired by the Korean novel of the same title by Kang Ji-young, “A Shop for Killers” narrates the life of Ji-an, a woman who grew up under the guardianship of her uncle, a secretive mercenary. Upon what appears to be her uncle’s death, she takes over his lethal weapons store and encounters his enemies. As lethal assassins surround her, we uncover her uncle’s violent past through flashbacks.

Season two will bring back popular Korean actors such as Lee Dongwook from shows like “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” and “Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938”, and Kim Hyejun known for “Connect” and “Kingdom”. New to the series are Japanese actors Masaki Okada, famous for “Drive My Car” and “We’re Millenials. Got a Problem?”, as well as Hyunri who has been in “Pachinko” and “The Naked Director”. In addition, Lee Kwon, writer Ji Hojin, and writer Lee Kwon will also return for the second season.

In January 2024, the first season of “A Shop for Killers,” a captivating eight-episode series, premiered on Disney+ (available as Hulu in the U.S.). This show has continued Disney+’s Korean originals team’s streak of success, joining the ranks of Kang Full’s popular series like “Moving” and “Light Shop.” In the Asia-Pacific region, it has become one of the most-watched shows on the streaming platform. On Rotten Tomatoes, it boasts a 98% audience rating and a perfect 100% score from critics.

The upcoming second season is set to air globally on Disney+, while it will be available domestically (in the U.S.) on Hulu; however, as of now, an official release date has not been announced.
