I Know What You Did Last Summer Trailer Shocks with New Weapon and Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Return

Currently, it’s an exciting era for horror enthusiasts such as myself, as the genre has been flourishing for quite some time now. Remarkable horror films are resurfacing in cinemas with sequels that have long-awaited fans eagerly anticipating their release. One of the most buzzworthy upcoming horror movies is none other than the revival of “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” The initial trailer introduced a fresh tool for the Fisherman and reintroduced Jennifer Love Hewitt to the mix.

The classic I Know What You Did Last Summer film is incredibly enjoyable to re-watch, and its ’90s horror counterpart is equally unforgettable. It’s anticipated that the upcoming sequel will tie together these two slasher films significantly, primarily due to the return of franchise veterans Julie (Hewitt) and Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr.). They were both hinted at in the recent teaser trailer, along with glimpses of The Fisherman’s gruesome murders.

The film begins by introducing two fresh characters in the horror flick, and it appears one of the major kills occurs when the Fisherman tracks them down at their residence. Using a harpoon gun for stealth, he approaches his prey, but rest assured, the fisherman’s hook is prominently featured throughout this trailer as well.

Similar to previous sequels based on original films, it seems that “I Know What You Did Last Summer” will introduce new characters, but will also reintroduce the original ones when they’re needed. It appears that a fresh group of teenagers are once again being pursued for concealing a death. However, in this instance, there are two survivors – Julie and Ray – who could potentially assist them in their predicament.

In the teaser shown earlier, there was an appeal to the Southport authorities to treat the murders with urgency, as they had been seen before. It’s uncertain if Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character continues to reside in her old hometown, but eventually, the teenagers locate her and plead for assistance. This is essentially how the first trailer concludes.

In this upcoming movie, it remains uncertain just how substantial the parts of the original franchise stars will be. It might resemble Neve Campbell’s character Sidney in the 2022 version of Scream, where she played a more supporting role rather than the lead. However, Jennifer Love Hewitt’s return to the series has generated immense excitement among horror enthusiasts like me. Given these circumstances, I would anticipate that both she and Prinze will encounter the new Fisherman character at some point during the film.

Indeed, it’s worth mentioning another legacy character who seems to be conspicuously absent: Karla from Brandy, who managed to survive ‘I Still Know What You Did Last Summer’, a fact that still holds true for the series. Brandy herself has confirmed discussions about her return, but as of now, she’s not listed among the cast members.

The horror thriller, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” is set to premiere in cinemas on July 18th, 2025. However, it remains to be seen whether or not Brandy will indeed appear in the movie.
