Andrew Garfield “Would Love” to Play Spider-Man Again but It Would Have to Be “Very Weird” and “Strange”

Andrew Garfield isn’t being shy about how he wants to put on the Spider-Man suit again.

At the latest Middle East Film & Comic Con held in Abu Dhabi, Garfield expressed his affection for the Marvel character by stating that he “enjoyed portraying Spider-Man.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my deep desire to reprise the role again somehow, but it would certainly be peculiar. I yearn for an opportunity to create something truly bizarre and out-of-the-ordinary, something that would leave everyone surprised. It’s almost like the incredible creative leeway they have when crafting the animated Spider-Verse films.

In another interpretation, the actor from “We Live in Time” remarked that these movies demonstrate various methods of paying tribute to a character across multiple universes.

Previously, Garfield portrayed Spider-Man in “The Amazing Spider-Man” (2012) and its follow-up in 2014. However, the third movie never came to fruition as Sony decided not to proceed with it. Later on, Tom Holland stepped into the role of Peter Parker, making his debut in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” in 2017.

In a departure from his role in The Social Network, the actor returned to portray Spider-Man once more, alongside Tobey Maguire, in the 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home. Despite numerous speculations suggesting his involvement, he had initially denied them all. Later, speaking with Esquire in October, he described the experience as a healing process for him.

If questioned about returning, he said: “Absolutely, I’d return without a doubt if it was the appropriate decision, if it adds to the existing culture, if there’s an exceptional idea or something innovative that hasn’t been explored before, offering an unusual and thrilling experience that catches your interest.
