In a recent interview, actor and director Aamir Khan discussed the difficulties that Bollywood is encountering in its current slump. Although he acknowledged there’s plenty of potential for advancement and expansion, he firmly asserted that the quality of Hindi movies equals that of other film industries.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter India, I, as a lifestyle expert, echo Aamir Khan’s sentiments about the potential for advancement and education within the Hindi film industry. I believe we could greatly benefit from learning and drawing inspiration from other regional industries in our pursuit of excellence. However, I find myself pondering: is there truly a noticeable distinction in the overall caliber of filmmaking across our nation?

As a connoisseur of all things cinematic, I must say that when I entered the Hindi film industry back in 1988, many of the movies being produced at that time seemed to be missing something essential – substance. Reflecting on the quality of films from the 70s and 80s, I find that they weren’t quite up to par compared to what we have today.

He thinks that there’s been a clear enhancement in things since then. In his opinion, the 2000s represented a major transition because people started becoming more open to different ideas and craved unique and unconventional content.

As a die-hard fanboy, I can’t help but echo the sentiments shared by the legendary actor from “3 Idiots”. He subtly hinted at the unavoidable ebbs and flows that are an integral part of Tinseltown. Yet, he passionately underscored the significance of recognizing the remarkable strides our industry has taken in recent times.

He noted that the definition of mainstream cinema, which was previously confined to a narrow set of formulas, has expanded and diversified over time, accommodating a wider range of successful movies. To him, this transformation signified a progressive step, not a disadvantage.

In his words, the star of Earth’s Sky expressed optimism about the film industry’s progress, despite recognizing there’s still room for improvement. He acknowledged the present downturn, viewing it as an inevitable aspect of any profession. For him, the struggles confronting Hindi cinema today are not unique but rather a recurring pattern that all industries face over time.
