Verdict on Havoc
Recap
The film chronicles a corrupt detective entangled in a vast drug conflict. His professional history with the affected parties compels him to prevent further chaos and protect his own secrets. Yet, no one seems willing to allow him an exit, as power over the city hangs in the balance.
Best Parts
In this film, it’s clear that director Gareth Evans excels in creating intense action scenes. Once the action erupts, it becomes an unrelenting whirlwind of violence, gore, and chaos – nothing is spared. This is a ruthless action flick with an extensive body count, and the performances are solid, elevating the brutality on screen.
Worst Parts
The challenge in living up to the immense reputation of The Raid films lies in meeting expectations. Unfortunately, this film doesn’t deliver quite as powerfully and seems to emulate the brutal action style often seen in American productions. Additionally, the narrative appears to aim for more complexity than is truly necessary.
Final Thoughts – Havoc is a brutal, ruthless action movie.
