A Brush With Death Quest Walkthrough In Oblivion Remastered

To begin your journey, head towards Rythe Lythandas’ House, situated on the south side of Cheydinhal. Upon entering, you’ll find Trivela Lythandas who will share that her husband, Rythe, has been absent for the past two days. She will recall that he often spends his time in his art studio, but on a recent visit, she found the room completely vacant.

She will give you the key to Rythe’s Studio, which you can use to open the door on the right and enter a small room. Inside this room, there’s an odd painting titled “The Painted World”. Interacting with this painting will magically whisk you away into it.

Upon entering the Painted World, Rythe will meet you and share his story about being trapped there. It seems a thief had broken into the painting and summoned Troll Guardians for protection using Rythe’s magical Brush of Truepaint. To aid you in combating these foes, Rythe will provide you with 6 Turpentine, which can be used to enhance your weapon’s damage. As you progress along the main path, you’ll encounter your first Painted Troll.

As a fan, I’d like to share a tip: If you find your attacks aren’t packing much punch, remember to equip the Turpentine and watch your Stamina gauge closely. It can deplete quickly, so keeping it from getting too low is essential for effective gameplay!

Following your victory over the troll, you’re able to gather the Troll Fat with Painted Hue from its corpse. This item has both positive and negative properties. Moving ahead through the vivid surroundings, you’ll soon come across another Painted Troll, followed swiftly by a third one. Defeat them all and carry on your journey until you notice a distinct change in the terrain, marking a rocky area that contrasts with the painted forest you’ve been traversing. Here, you’ll encounter the final Painted Troll. After overcoming it, head towards the body of the Bosmer Thief nearby to retrieve the Truepaint Brush from him.

To return to Rythe, follow your compass. Once you reach him, he will create a gateway with his brush. Step through this gateway and when you’re back in the house, converse with Rythe to claim your prize—the Agile Apron.
