Japanese nylon, often overshadowed by the renowned quality of Japanese denim, is a focus for YOSHIDA & Co. and Studio Nicholson. The British clothing brand, Studio Nicholson, has debuted a first-time partnership with YOSHIDA & Co.’s POTR line, showcasing three distinctive items skillfully crafted from premium Japanese nylon, all presented in the signature Darkest Navy hue of Studio Nicholson.
The Bonsac shoulder bag headlines the collection, showcasing the thoughtful design philosophy of the capsule. All items, such as the smaller messenger bag and key pouch, bear subtle branding through monochrome logos and hidden stitching to emphasize the robust nylon material chosen for this line. A touch of luxury is added with premium tanned cowhide leather accents on the zippers.
Nick Wakeman, founder and creative director of Studio Nicholson, highlighted the unique quality of the material, stating that it’s not typical black, gray, or navy, making it incredibly versatile and an ideal addition to any daily attire. This 100% recycled high-density taffeta nylon boasts a matte washed appearance and undergoes salt treatment for a fluorine-free, water-resistant coating. The fabric is constructed with a three-layer bonding and polyester padding, while the interior lining benefits from robust 70D ripstop reinforcement.
On May 1st, you can find the Studio Nicholson x POTR collection online at Studio Nicholson’s web store and at Studio Nicholson and Porter Yoshida & Co. stores worldwide. This includes locations in the UK, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, as well as Dover Street Market Ginza.
