Amber Ruffin got a raw deal. Now, we know why.

Initially, a comedian with left-leaning views was scheduled to perform at the White House Correspondents’ Association’s annual event in Washington D.C. The WHCA had praised her comedic talents by inviting her. However, after several weeks, they decided to cancel her performance.

As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but express my disappointment when the creators of this show didn’t provide a compelling reason for their narrative, relying instead on a vague call for unity. However, it was unmistakable that Ruffin intended to satirize the Republican Party, with President Donald Trump being one of the main targets.

Democrats? Not so much. And it’s not for lack of material.

It’s quite similar to what we’ve seen with the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) lately. Many comedians invited to perform at the event tend to lean towards liberal views, which they often express in their performances.

As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I’d say that Ruffin’s performance might lean towards similar territory as Michelle Wolf’s controversial 2018 act, but with an extra dose of sharp-edged wit and possibly an even more biting tone.

If that’s possible.

As a movie enthusiast, I found it intriguing how the sudden change of heart by the group was revealed during the final moments. The crowd of reporters, including myself, tried our best to maintain an unbiased, non-partisan image, being Washington insiders.

It’s the biggest lie since Milli Vanilli.

Alex Thompson from Axios notes that if President Biden appears to be struggling and those close to him conceal it, this underscores the fact that any administration, no matter the political affiliation, can be prone to deceit.

A large number of political reporters often openly lean towards activism. They tend to function as an arm of the Democratic Party, and they’ve demonstrated this affiliation particularly during the last four years.

They chose not to intervene while President Joe Biden, affected by dementia, was at the helm of the nation. Instead, they remained silent and provided support during periods where his mental capacity seemed weakened.

With President Biden no longer in office, there’s an opportunity for them to openly share “the facts.” Additionally, it might provide a chance to publish a book or two.

Shameless can’t fully capture the Fourth Estate’s corruption.

Since Ruffin had pledged to criticize Trump, but the journalists were gathered for a reconciliatory event, it wouldn’t have been tactful or beneficial for her to publicly condemn Trump, as it could negatively impact their attempt at an apology.

Ditching Ruffin was dishonest to the core, or “on brand” for today’s journalist.
