As we move from April to May, the weather is warming up and people might be spending less time indoors watching TV. However, your preferred streaming platforms are working hard to ensure you’ll still want to stay comfortable on the couch.
In May, an impressive lineup of both fresh films and beloved franchises is set to debut. Apart from the three upcoming episodes of Andor, which we’ll see this week, there’s more Star Wars excitement in store for May the Fourth as well. Here’s a sneak peek at the streaming releases coming up this week.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse May 1 Disney+
It turns out that while the studio doesn’t have full control over the cinematic rights for Spider-Man, they do manage most of his live-action films due to an agreement with Sony. Starting May 1st, the Spider-Man universe will expand further as the animated “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” will move from Netflix and be available on Disney+.

Another Simple Favor May 1 Prime Video
A Simple Favor was one of those straightforward movies centered around character development that sometimes takes you by surprise with its success rate. Despite a strong performance at the box office, the upcoming sequel, featuring the return of Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, can only be watched through a Prime Video subscription.

The Four Seasons May 1 Netflix
In “The Four Seasons,” three sets of friends sharing a vacation experience undergo significant life transformations throughout a year. Originally based on the successful 1981 film written, directed, and starring Alan Alda, this Netflix adaptation has been reimagined as a limited series. The series features an impressive ensemble cast that includes Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, and Will Forte.

Oceans Franchise May 1 Netflix
With rumors swirling that George Clooney and Brad Pitt could reunite for another installment of the iconic Oceans 11 franchise, it’s a perfect opportunity to re-engage with the original series. Coincidentally, all three previous Oceans films have just been added to Netflix this week.

Black Bag – May 2 (Peacock)
Despite the fact that the film “Black Bag” didn’t perform well at the box office, it’s likely you missed it. However, if you take a look at its reviews, this espionage thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett is definitely worth watching. If you have a Peacock subscription, you can catch it this week.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge & Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance | Disneyland® Resort – May 4 Disney+
As a passionate Star Wars enthusiast, I eagerly anticipate May the Fourth every year, knowing that Disney+ usually has something special in store to honor this iconic franchise. This time around, the excitement is palpable as we gear up to enjoy the animated series, “Star Wars: Tales From the Underworld.”
However, what truly piques my interest is the unique offering this week: a virtual walk-through video of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland! But wait, there’s more – subscribers will also get a full ride experience of the awe-inspiring Rise of the Resistance attraction. I can hardly contain my excitement, hoping that this could be just the beginning of a new wave of immersive Disney Parks content on Disney+, allowing us to indulge in rides when we’re not physically present at the parks!

Conan O’Brien: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor – May 4 netflix
As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but exclaim that it was none other than Conan O’Brien who truly captivated the Oscars this year! His hosting performance was such a hit, it’s already been announced he’ll be back for another round next year. Frankly, with his comedic genius on full display, I believe Conan O’Brien is more than deserving of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor from the Kennedy Center. Luckily for us fans, the entire event will be available to watch on our Netflix subscriptions!
Next week, two highly anticipated series make their comeback: fans of Conan O’Brien can look forward to more of his travels on the show “Conan O’Brien Can’t Help But Travel“, and the long-awaited second season of Natasha Lyonne’s “Poker Face” will finally be here.
