During the unveiling of his movie “Tanvi: The Great” on April 28th, Anupam Kher was questioned if his film bore resemblance to Barfi. Regarding this, he admitted, “Although I hold great affection for Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor, and director Anurag Basu, I haven’t watched Barfi yet. For some reason, I haven’t seen it, so I can’t say for certain if there’s any similarity. All I’ve seen are brief clips of that film.

He also inquired from his team whether they thought he should reveal the source of his movie’s inspiration now or wait until the trailer release. The movie team advised him to keep quiet about it, and following their advice, Kher didn’t disclose much. Nevertheless, he hinted that his film originated from a significant conversation he had with someone who is unique.

This idea is what drives me. At this point, here’s what I can share with you. For this project, I undertook research for the first time in any acting endeavor. Given the film’s subject matter, I aimed to create an authentic production. Consequently, we composed the music a year prior to shooting because I was so familiar with the movie.” Additionally, he mentioned that he had anticipated the situation ahead of time.

Later on, Kher expressed his desire to meet Barfi and made it clear that not watching their film doesn’t imply any disrespect towards them. To sum up, the actor from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai emphasized again that he holds their work in high regard.
