❗️Be advised: The following discussion may reveal plot details from episode 18 of NCIS: Origins.
In this week’s NCIS: Origins, we see Lara Macy reappear, now depicted as a young military police officer. The climactic events of the series reveal that her character plays a significant role in the storyline, which could significantly impact Gibbs’ team. Notably, Macy is not the first character from the NCIS universe to appear in the prequel; she is, however, the first one hailing from NCIS: Los Angeles.
The NCIS spinoff, titled “NCIS: Origins,” is the franchise’s first prequel, opening up a wealth of intriguing narratives. This series delves into Gibbs’ life following the tragic loss of his wife and daughter, but it also explores the personal histories of his colleagues. The final episode of NCIS: Origins, in particular, underscores how deeply connected Gibbs’ life and career are with those of his team members, a connection he may not fully grasp.
NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 18 Introduces Young Lara Macy
Lara Macy Investigates Pedro Hernandez’s Murder
The final segment of “NCIS: Origins” showcases Lara Macy delving into Pedro Hernandez’s murder and uncovering Gibbs’ suspected involvement. Alongside this, the episode discloses a past friendship between Macy and Lala, forged at a crime scene, which has since seen them collaborating on various cases. At first, Macy’s reappearance seems welcoming, but as events unfold, she makes it clear that she needs Lala to aid her in interrogating Gibbs and pressuring him into cooperating. The narrative takes a darker turn as Macy transforms into the antagonist, jeopardizing not only Gibbs’ professional standing but also the future of his team.
The ending’s path remains unpredictable as multiple narratives unfold concurrently. Initially, the NIS team fears that Gibbs could be apprehended. He turns himself in, but Lala intervenes heroically by taking the fall herself. Despite preparing to deal with the repercussions of his actions, Lala employs her bond with Macy to persuade her to abandon the investigation. This maneuver allows Gibbs to progress. Macy might have appeared as a villain, but she was merely striving to do what was right.
What Happens To Lara Macy After Her NCIS: Origins Appearance
Lara Macy Has A Sad History
In the series called “NCIS: Origins“, Macy expresses her desire to become a JAG officer. However, with Lala’s support, she chooses a different path and becomes an NCIS agent instead. After appearing in the prequel to “NCIS“, Macy eventually joins the cast of “NCIS: Los Angeles“. Although her immediate post-“NCIS: Origins” years are not fully detailed, it’s known that she continued her military career. At some point in time, Macy climbs up the ranks within NCIS: Los Angeles and assumes the role of the head of the Office of Special Projects. This suggests that her career flourished significantly following her investigation into Gibbs, despite no concrete outcomes arising from it.
In a moment on NCIS, Macy makes a fleeting appearance, and it’s the first time she encounters Gibbs following her investigation. Despite Gibbs not being fond of Macy, their brief exchanges suggest that Macy was aware of his guilt but chose to dismiss the case and shield him. The storyline of Macy in NCIS: Origins adds depth to this encounter, as we now understand that Macy did not protect Gibbs out of sympathy for him, but rather to spare Lala’s future prospects.
Macy’s tenure in the NCIS franchise didn’t last long; she was killed off during season 7 of NCIS. Her death was connected to her long-standing efforts to shield Gibbs from blame in the Hernandez murder case. The Reynosa cartel showed no mercy in her killing, and this connection to Gibbs spurred him on to find her killer. The team grieved her loss but also threw themselves into solving the mystery, with Gibbs rallying his team to track down the culprit.
Who Plays Young Lara Macy In NCIS: Origins: Most Notable Roles
Claire Berger Plays Lara Macy
As a cinephile, I can tell you that Claire Berger brings Lara Macy to life in the gripping series, NCIS: Origins. Berger, an emerging talent in Hollywood, has been gracing our screens since 2015, with notable appearances in films like Mind Body & Soul and The Midnight Club. While she’s mostly known for her minor roles up until now, having featured in numerous shorts, NCIS: Origins marks her debut in a significant franchise.
Movie/TV Show | Character |
Mind Body & Soul | Lucinda |
The Midnight Club | Julie |
NCIS: Origins | Lara Macy |
In the world of NCIS, I used to be portrayed by Louise Lombard. However, as we approach nearly two decades since the start of NCIS: Origins, my appearances occurred much later in the series, which is quite different from those early days. Consequently, the NCIS franchise needed a younger actor to step into my shoes, similar to how Austin Stowell took on a youthful Gibbs role in the prequel. Although my time on NCIS: Origins has come to an end, there’s a possibility I might still make an appearance in season 2 through my relationship with Lala.
