Apex Legends and Star Wars: Jedi Developers Hit With Layoffs; Two Projects Canceled

The company, Respawn, has faced additional job cuts and abandoned projects. However, the team is determined to enhance their popular title, Apex Legends (a battle royale game), and contribute to the upcoming installment of the Star Wars: Jedi series.

As reported on social media by Respawn, they’ve scrapped two early-stage projects, possibly new ideas or concepts. Additionally, team members from the Apex Legends and Star Wars: Jedi teams were let go.

Whether this canceled project was connected to Titanfall is still unclear.

In reference to the year 2024, it was revealed that the developers had canceled a first-person game based on “The Mandalorian.” This game was initially unveiled in 2022 as one of several new Star Wars projects that Respawn Entertainment was set to manage.

Among them, the strategy game created by Bit Reactor, titled Star Wars: Zero Company, which was formally unveiled earlier this year, is one we hope to eventually play.
