The Hollywood Reporter’s Rebecca Keegan Lands Deal to Pen Book on Coppola Family

The Hollywood Reporter senior film editor Rebecca Keegan has sold a book on the Coppola family.

As per publisher Henry Holt, a division of Macmillan, “The Coppola book” will serve as a narrative that highlights American cinema’s original dynasty. This comprehensive work will delve into the factors shaping the Coppolas – 19th century Italian origins and 20th century American influences, patriarchy, war, wine, and opera – and will highlight, in particular, the unconventional artistic journeys of the women within the family.

The book about the Coppola family, according to its publisher, will tell a story about the first family of American cinema. It will discuss various aspects that formed the Coppolas – their Italian roots in the 19th century and their experiences in 20th century America, their male-dominated society, war, wine, and opera, and it will focus on the unique artistic paths taken by the women within the family.

Keegan, who was in charge of the 2024 Audible podcast titled “The Godfather: A Film We Can’t Refuse“, is also an author of two books: “Young Frankenstein: The Making of the Movie,” co-written with Mel Brooks, and “The Futurist: The Life and Films of James Cameron“.

Keegan, who oversaw the 2024 Audible podcast called “The Godfather: A Film We Can’t Refuse“, is also an author, having written two books: “Young Frankenstein: The Making of the Film,” in collaboration with Mel Brooks, and “The Futurist: The Life and Films of James Cameron“.

At THR, Keegan earned the 2024 Los Angeles Press Club Print Journalist of the Year Award. This recognition came from her outstanding features about “Jane Doe #2” during the Los Angeles Harvey Weinstein trial, a movie training program at San Quentin, and her coverage on writers’ and actors’ strikes. She not only writes for THR but also hosts their signature Oscar roundtables. Her cover stories have featured Scarlett Johansson, Ben Affleck, Jonathan Majors, and the iconic character Baby Yoda.

Before stepping into the THR family, I had the privilege of serving as a Hollywood correspondent at Vanity Fair, penning film reviews for The Los Angeles Times, and contributing as a correspondent for Time magazine.

Keegan was represented in the deal by agent Susan Canavan at WLA Books.
