Infinity Nikki’s Most Ambitious Update Is Also Its Buggiest

The release of Infinity Nikki’s Version 1.5 update, also known as “Bubble Season,” was intended to mark a significant milestone for the game.

For the very first time, they’ve added a novel social feature called co-op, an engaging costume customization system, intriguing narrative threads, and over a hundred rewarding interactions in the Sea of Stars zone – none of which are associated with the indie turn-based RPG game.

This new version of the game is packed with more innovative features than any other, but these bold additions have their drawbacks. While it introduced dynamic outfits and multiplayer options, its launch has been marred by problems across all devices, making it the buggiest release for Infinity Nikki yet.

As a devoted gamer, I’m thrilled about the latest update in our favorite game – Bubble Season! The innovation here lies in the immersive player interaction with the game world. Now, we can team up, lock hands, and delve into the enchanting Sea of Stars together in the brand-new cooperative mode. It’s like having a partner on this fantastical journey!

In this idyllic setting, boasting shimmering pink landscapes and suspended walkways that offer a refreshing coolness, teamwork thrives during multiplayer tasks such as escorting a delicate bubble along a twisting route – akin to the game Bubble Escort. Moreover, version 1.5 introduces an exciting new element: the DIY Workshop, empowering players to personalize their characters’ outfits by choosing custom colors.

With the latest update, you now have the ability to combine color schemes and even adopt other players’ styles using the newly introduced Color Lookbook, serving both as a personal style book and a public source of fashion inspiration. The Sea of Stars has a strong connection with the main outfit featured in this update, known as the Miracle Outfit, which holds a substantial place in the game’s storyline.

In a manner reminiscent of how past 5-star costumes were obtained, players can acquire their items by advancing through events and the narrative. The latest addition to the game includes four-star outfits such as Crimson Feather and Snowy Ballad, which come with unique visual effects designed for smooth integration during cooperative gameplay.

As a tribute to the latest update, Infold Games offered a bounty of Revelation Crystals, Diamonds, and Resonite Crystals through login rewards, special quests with limited time offers, and redeemable codes.

As a gaming enthusiast, I get the thrill of unveiling an array of fresh wardrobes by joining mini-games such as Floating Bubbles, Cozy Caretakers, and Heartfelt Gifts. These exciting events not only offer me new outfits but also bring back classic costumes for novice Steam players to savor the nostalgia.

Unfortunately, instead of turning into an amazing experience, things took a turn for the worse due to numerous technical glitches. Players on PS5 have encountered issues like the analog stick getting stuck, the game switching unexpectedly to first-person view, or becoming immobilized after accessing menus.

In some cases, players found themselves trapped in multiplayer cooperative games with no means of escape, while others repeatedly had to reboot their gaming consoles to regain command. Users of personal computers have encountered various issues such as game crashes, unsuccessful installations, visual glitches in newly discovered locations like Sea of Stars and Serenity Island, and missing outfits upon login.

For some users, it was impossible to download the update without having to reinstall the entire game. Even after a fresh installation, others continued to encounter frequent crashes approximately every 20 minutes or unresponsive buttons during the tutorials on outfits, causing all controls to freeze. Users of mobile devices weren’t exempted from these issues either.

On iOS and Android devices, menus failed to load, adjusting resolution settings caused freezing issues, collectibles were reset following maintenance which erased numerous hours of advancement, and certain sections such as the Whim Pedals bike trails became non-functional. Furthermore, custom animations like the Faewish Sprite costume remained inaccessible.

The idea behind the Color Lookbook was thrilling, however, its execution faced technical challenges that made it hard to save or show entries accurately. Furthermore, multiplayer missions frequently encountered connection problems or unresponsive cues, and certain quests were inaccessible due to glitches with marker placement or black screen transitions.

In a commendable move, Infold Games promptly issued a public apology along with a reparations plan. Each player found 1,200 Diamonds, 10 Revelation Crystals, and 10 Resonite Crystals waiting for them in their in-game mailbox.

In the Heart of Infinity, some significant bugs such as initialization glitches, user interface flaws, and incorrectly labeled visuals for outfits, have been addressed. However, numerous other issues remain unresolved.

These include:

  • Lighting and material bugs in the new zones
  • Co-op instability and progression blockers
  • DIY Workshop interaction glitches
  • Outfit visual bugs and performance problems

As an enthusiastic player, I was made aware of nine significant glitches that haven’t been resolved yet by the studio, and I’m asked to keep reporting any additional issues I encounter while they work on long-term solutions. Daily hotfixes have indeed been put in place, but it seems the community is still grappling with persistent problems.

In its current state, Bubble Season could become the finest iteration of Infinity Nikki yet. However, it’s currently teetering on the brink of greatness and is awaiting an update that should take it beyond its current potential.
