Seiko Reveals New Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT 60th Anniversary Edition

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of its renowned diving watches, Seiko has unveiled the Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT 60th Anniversary model. This new timepiece pays tribute to the original 1968 Diver, which was a groundbreaking one-piece case high-beat diver’s watch that boasted a water resistance of 300 meters.

Made from stainless steel, this reimagined version showcases a dial that gleams in a silvery white hue, complete with hour-markers filled with luminescent material. The minimalist and understated dial is subtly enhanced by the addition of red on its hands and as the GMT letters etched onto the dial base. Surrounded by a navy blue ceramic diving scale bezel, the GMT function enables simultaneous tracking of three time zones without compromising simplicity. Additionally, this Prospex model features a new type of short-length bracelet equipped with a micro-adjustable clasp for a perfect fit.

Fundamentally, the latest Diver model operates on an in-house 6R54 automatic GMT mechanism, providing a power reserve of three days. Much like its forerunner, this watch remains waterproof to depths of 300 meters, rendering it ideal for deep-sea diving expeditions.

I’m thrilled to share that the Seiko Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT 60th Anniversary will soon be up for pre-order on their webstore! Priced at approximately £1,600 GBP ($2,142 USD), this beauty is within my budget as a fan, and I can hardly wait to get my hands on it!
