Make Arch-Tempered the Difficulty Standard in Monster Hunter Wilds

The highly anticipated Title Update 1 for Monster Hunter Wilds has transformed the game into a version that die-hard fans and seasoned hunters have long desired. Enhancements include a Social Hub area called Gathering Hall, an influx of new monsters, and tough post-game challenges, making the future of Wilds look promising.

Currently, the Arch-Tempered Rey Dau has been released, marking the game’s most challenging hunt to date. I can’t help but yearn for additional fights on par with this one. Such monster hunts are exactly what I envision should set the bar for the endgame in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Why? Well…

Arch-Tempered Monsters Are Peak Battles

Arch-Tempered Monsters represent the toughest iterations of creatures we’ve encountered thus far. They could be considered as true to the lore when it comes to danger level. With larger health reserves and more powerful attacks, they offer a challenge that would be more engaging if included in the main game instead of being restricted to time-limited events. Engaging with basic monsters within less than 10 minutes diminishes the tension and excitement.

They also introduce fresh maneuvers, similar to how Monster Hunter World/Iceborne introduced Arch-Tempered Velkhana and Namielle. In this instance, when facing Rey Dau, its Arch-Tempered form unleashes more electric discharges, making each battle a frenzy with frequent railgun-like attacks.

In these intense fights, it seems like a matter of survival for your hunter. All the supplies you’ve gathered over time, including Mega Demondrugs, Mega Armorskins, and your top-tier equipment, become crucial. It’s the perfect blend of strategy and gear usage.

Resistant to Wounds

I particularly enjoy the challenge posed by the Arch-Tempered battles because these monsters are extremely tough and hard to defeat. You might recall my previous comment about Monster Hunter Wilds being too simple due to easily defeated monsters? It seems like Capcom listened to our feedback. These creatures don’t succumb to attacks quickly, and you won’t find the usual red mark indicating a Focus Attack opportunity. Instead, you must strategically aim for their tempered wounds, which can be time-consuming and risky.

More Arch-Tempered on the Way

Capcom has announced that they will be introducing additional Arch-Tempered monsters, and I’m genuinely thrilled at the prospect of seeing more characters from the Apex roster receive this treatment. Envisioning an Arch-Tempered version of Nu Udra transforming into a fiercer, octopus-like creature, or Uth Duna lashing its colossal belly to trample Hunters is enough to get my heart racing. I can’t help but imagine the chaos that would ensue when fighting Jin Dahaad or Zoh Shia in their Arch-Tempered forms!

It appears that Capcom is concentrating on making things challenging in their upcoming update in May, along with a plethora of thrilling additional content. Title Update 2 will reintroduce Lagiacrus and unveil the long-awaited Layered Weapons system.
