In the Netflix series “Daredevil: Born Again,” the original cast reappeared, while a fresh batch of characters joined the action on Disney+. Standouts like Muse (Hunter Doohan) and White Tiger (Kamar de los Reyes) certainly grab your attention, but other characters, despite minimal screen time, significantly influenced the storyline.
In the therapy session between Wilson (Vincent D’onofrio) and Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer), it is initially revealed that Adam (Lou Taylor Pucci) is present in their lives. This revelation occurs as they attempt to mend the tension in their marriage, which arose due to Wilson’s absence during the “Echo” series events. With Kingpin out of the scene, Vanessa assumed control over the Fisk criminal empire, and when she wasn’t managing New York’s criminal underworld, she was fostering a relationship with Adam. However, upon his return, Wilson discovered their relationship, leading him to capture Adam and imprison him in a basement cell.
In the series, we rarely encounter Adam, and most often he’s pleading for liberty while Wilson Fisk, seemingly unfazed, indulges in exquisite meals within mere steps of his prison cell. Once the Fisks rekindle their relationship, Fisk leads Vanessa to the basement and releases Adam from his enclosure. In a decisive move, Vanessa concludes their affair by fatally shooting Adam.
How does Adam connect to Daredevil’s future?
In “Daredevil: Born Again,” Adam doesn’t have a lot of on-screen appearances, but his narrative carries significant weight for potential challenges that Daredevil may face in the coming storyline. Throughout the series, Vanessa Fisk has consistently supported her husband’s criminal endeavors and demonstrated her ability to manage various mobs and criminal organizations. While she’s never been hesitant about crime, her husband usually took charge of the violent aspects. However, this pattern seems to be changing as Vanessa, who previously preferred working subtly in the background, is now becoming more hands-on in the criminal world — a shift that was unseen before.
In the finale of “Daredevil: Born Again”, it was revealed that Vanessa had arranged for Foggy’s (Elden Henson) murder. This act made her as violent as the Kingpin, and further strengthened their bond. As a result, the duo has transformed into formidable villains who pose a significant threat to Daredevil. Moreover, since the Kingpin made a reference to Spider-Man, it’s likely that Daredevil won’t be the only hero facing off against this new and dangerous power couple in the MCU.
