I’ve been excitedly following a documentary project, where I, as a gaming enthusiast, am thrilled to be associated with the greatness of Pope Francis. This collaboration took place before his recent passing earlier this month. It’s an honor to be part of something that will immortalize his wisdom and impact.

The film titled Aldeas – A New Story is being created by Scholas Occurrentes, an international educational movement initiated by the late Pope. Martin Scorsese is involved as a producer for this movie that centers around the Aldeas cinema project, which merged Pope Francis’ passion for education, filmmaking, and community development.

The movie focuses on the backstage tales of scripted short films being produced worldwide as part of the Aldeas project. Aldeas – A New Story features exclusive chats between Scorsese and Pope Francis, plus the late Pope’s last in-depth on-camera interview for a full-length film.

Aldeas is a deeply poetic and highly impactful initiative as it delves into the fundamental aspects of human existence, human relationships, human struggles… the very core of one’s life’s path,” Pope Francis expressed in a statement prior to his passing.

Scorsese emphasized, “Now, it’s crucial more than ever before that we engage in dialogue, not just within our own cultures, but across them. A powerful method for achieving this is by swapping narratives about ourselves, drawn from our individual lives and experiences. This practice aids us in comprehending and appreciating the unique perspectives each of us has on the world. Pope Francis emphasized the importance of exchanging ideas globally while still maintaining cultural integrity, and film is an exceptional tool for accomplishing this.

The team responsible for its creativity is made up of directors Clare Tavernor and Johnny Shipley, along with producer Amy Foster. Additionally, the roles of producer are held by Scorsese, Teresa Leveratto, Ezequiel del Corral, and Alfonso Gomez-Rejon.
