Robert De Niro Expresses Support for His Daughter Airyn After She Comes Out as Transgender

Robert De Niro is expressing only “love and backing” for his daughter, Ariyan De Niro, following her announcement of being transgender.

In a statement made to The Hollywood Reporter, the two-time Oscar winner expressed, “I’ve always cherished Aaron as my son, and now I embrace Airyn as my daughter. To me, it’s nothing extraordinary. I care deeply for all my kids.

Robert De Niro is the father of Airyn, her twin brother Julian, and actress Toukie Smith’s other child, as well. The renowned actor has five additional children, including his latest addition, Gia, born in 2023 with his partner, Tiffany Chen.

This past week, Airyn discussed her transition in an interview with Them magazine. She shared that encountering other prosperous transgender women assisted her in navigating her individual voyage, even though she considers herself as someone who started later than most.

She expressed that seeing transgender women openly sharing their experiences, particularly on platforms like social media and demonstrating their achievements, stirred something within her. She admitted, ‘Perhaps there’s still a chance for me. Perhaps I can begin too.’

Airyn remarked, “A significant aspect of my transformation is also the impact that Black women have had on me. By embracing this new identity and feeling even prouder of my African-American heritage, I somehow find myself drawn closer to them.

Following the release of the article about her, Airyn expressed her gratitude on Instagram Stories for the support she’s been receiving. “Thank you to everyone who’s been so kind and considerate!
