A24’s New Horror Movie From Talk to Me Directors Debuts Chilling First Look

The studio has earned a strong name for crafting chilling tales across various genres such as horror, dramas, and comedies. To keep this momentum going, they have recently revealed a sneak peek of their forthcoming horror production titled “Bring Her Back“.

The movie, titled “Bring Her Back,” serves as the sequel effort by Danny and Michael Philippou, following their hit film “Talk to Me“. Known as a chilling horror movie about possession, it is set to debut in cinemas on May 30. The film boasts two-time Oscar-nominated actress Sally Hawkins playing the principal role. Recently, A24 unveiled the first official teaser for “Bring Her Back,” along with insights from its two directors.

After their mother passes away, a brother and sister meet their newly-assigned sibling, unaware that their foster mother harbors a shocking, terrifying secret.

As a passionate moviegoer, I’d sum up our film “Bring Her Back” with just three words: harrowing, traumatic, and surprisingly entertaining.

Co-director Michael Philippou mentioned, “We aimed for something unique compared to ‘Talk to Me.’ It’s indeed a horror movie, but it leans more towards the psychological aspect.” Danny added, “I’ve always felt that ‘Bring Her Back’ was the film I wanted to follow up with next. My excitement has always been about creating a character study and a suspenseful, psychological thriller for women.

In the initial glimpse, Laura’s character expresses the viewpoint that a soul can linger within a body for several months following death. The director underscores that Laura has an uncommon approach to parenting. He also mentions that she is compassionate, nurturing, and deeply maternal. However, he adds a peculiar twist by stating that she is “psychotic.

The Oscar-nominated actress garnered immense accolades from the directing team, who couldn’t help but extol her virtues. “We adore Sally Hawkins, and it was an immense privilege to collaborate with her. She embodied the character completely, making the process awe-inspiring. The dedication she showed was astounding; she poured a piece of her essence into this role. And when she immersed herself in it, everyone on set held their breath, and so did I.

I aspire for the viewers to leave thinking, ‘This is a horror film, yet I find myself feeling touched as well.’ He goes on to say, ‘There are certainly disturbing scenes in this movie.’
