One of WoW’s Most Controversial Expansions Is Back

In the upcoming patch 11.1.7 for World of Warcraft, Timewalking is set to arrive in Battle for Azeroth, generating excitement among players due to its anticipated features.

For a long time, fans speculated whether Blizzard would address BFA’s troubled history or even reintroduce it. Surprisingly, not only is it returning, but it’s also serving as both the start and end of the new six-week Timeways Turbulence rotation.

Six legendary dungeons are being introduced in the upcoming update: Atal’Dazar, Freehold, King’s Rest, Shrine of the Storm, Temple of Sethraliss, and Waycrest Manor. These dungeons have sparked countless discussions about Mythic+ and have become a divisive yet cherished aspect of the expansion.

Not only that, but they’re coming back again, with modifications to the scale and Timewarped Badge incentives, reinstating the controversial systems from BFA. The fresh rewards really add to the anticipation. Items previously unattainable such as Kul Tiran trenchcoats, Dark Ranger bows, and the Moonlit Nightsaber mount are now available for purchase.

There’s also a fresh pirate-styled mount available, named Chrono Corsair, reminiscent of Tazavesh’s Timecap’n Hooktail. The Timewalking event now answers a long-standing query from the community: “Where in Battle for Azeroth can we find Timewalking?

After all this time, Blizzard kept Battle for Azeroth as the go-to leveling experience, usually mentioning they needed to wait for The War Within expansion before making changes. Now that The War Within has taken center stage, players can finally explore (or find solace in) Battle for Azeroth on their own timeline.

It’s clear that not everyone agrees with the return of BFA, as it seems to stir up past annoyances, particularly regarding Azerite gear, reputation grinds, and warfronts. Even though these aspects won’t be included in Timewalking, their historical impact on player sentiment remains significant.

Some gamers are elated about the chance to acquire transmog sets and reputation prizes minus the traditional struggle, whereas others prefer to forget about Battle for Azeroth altogether. However, the return of one of World of Warcraft’s most contentious expansions seems reminiscent of Blizzard gauging public opinion.

Instead of completely revamping the Battle for Azeroth (BFA), we’re planning to redefine its focus by emphasizing quality-of-life improvements, addressing outstanding aesthetics, and incorporating select dungeon content. Regardless of whether it proves successful or not, this Timewalking event is already excelling at what BFA did best – sparking conversations among players.
