If there’s one thing Rockstar isn’t holding back on with GTA 6, it’s the firepower.
According to trailers, leaks, and keen fan analysis, it appears this version of Grand Theft Auto could boast the most expansive arsenal yet. The game includes a variety of weapons ranging from simple handguns to heavily armed tactical packs, and that’s not even taking into account the customizable gear options available.
In the second preview, there was a commercial for Phil’s Gun Store, displaying semi-automatic pistols, shotguns, light machine guns, and military rifles. Gamers noticed a variety of weapons ranging from AR designs and AK variations to traditional hunting rifles with a twist – even a rotating grenade launcher was showcased.
Not only does it seem that submachine guns will play a significant role, but the depiction of Lucia handling an MP5 and a fully-automatic pistol implies this. The meticulous attention to detail, such as the presence of foregrips, scopes, rails, and muzzle attachments, suggests a sophisticated weapon customization system reminiscent of games like Call of Duty.
In GTA 6, it’s not just the quantity of weapons that makes it stand out, but their behavior as well. Instead of retaining the supernatural inventory from GTA V, the game seems to be moving towards a more realistic system similar to Red Dead Redemption 2. This means that players might no longer have the ability to carry every gun they come across.

They need to devise strategic plans by placing equipment in car boots, choosing optimal gear sets before embarking on missions, and using duffel bags for carrying loot and travel items. Furthermore, leaks indicate a restriction of just a few main weapons and a backup gun per player, which could significantly alter the approach to gunfights and exploration.
It’s been rumored that new features will be added to the game, such as the ability to switch hands for shooting, pre-fire safety flips, and lively animations for holstering and reloading. Rockstar enhances realism with touches like an NPC character wielding a gun who has chipped nail polish or the kickback from heavier weapons.
Enthusiasts believe they’ve found signs suggesting that Grand Theft Auto 6 might significantly enhance its realism by featuring what seem like real bullet holes and reactive blood spatter patterns. Additionally, it appears that an array of practical tools and environmentally-friendly gadgets will complement the primary weapons in this upcoming installment.

Picture yourself preparing a kit equipped with stun guns, lock openers, binoculars, first aid kits for injuries, and protective vests. It’s likely that the game developers will make weapons more realistic by considering factors like damage based on caliber, wear on silencers, and the option to customize ammunition types.
In addition to other game elements, melee weapons and projectiles receive equal attention. Familiar items such as bats, knives, crowbars, pool cues, and golf clubs are likely to make a reappearance, with the trailer hinting at the inclusion of molotov cocktails, smoke bombs, and flashbangs.
Rockstar aims for weapons within the game to appear authentically integrated, rather than merely placed. Should they achieve this, it may establish an entirely new benchmark for GTA and open-world shooting games.
