Tribeca Festival Adds Slick Rick Visual Album, ‘Twinless’ New York Premiere

For the 2025 Tribeca Festival, additional programming has been unveiled for this year’s edition. This includes two further visual album premieres, adding to the debut of Miley Cyrus’ “Something Beautiful” visual album, as well as the New York premiers of the Sundance award-winning films “Twinless” and “Come See Me in the Good Light”.

The upcoming festival will debut the international first showing of Slick Rick’s “Victory” music video album, helmed by Meji Alabi, featuring guest appearances by Idris Elba, Nas, and Giggs. After the premiere, Slick Rick himself will join for a live discussion. Meanwhile, Tribeca will unveil a visual album from Baltimore’s hardcore band Turnstile, followed by a talk with the musicians. “Turnstile: Never Enough,” running for 50 minutes, was directed by frontman Brendan Yates and guitarist Pat McCrory.

Moreover, the festival is set to unveil the world debut of “Dead Language,” a lengthy movie based on the Oscar-nominated short film “Aya” by Mihal Brezis and Oded Binnun. Starring Sarah Adler and Ulrich Thomsen, this film will be screened for the first time. Two Sundance award winners, “Twinless” starring Dylan O’Brien and James Sweeney and the documentary “Come See Me in the Good Light” following poet Andrea Gibson after their cancer diagnosis, will also have their New York premieres here. Directed by Ryan White and produced by Tig Notaro, the film features an original song from Sara Bareilles and Brandi Carlile. After the screening, there will be a discussion with White, Notaro, executive producers Glennon Doyle and Abby Wambach, and a special appearance by Sara Bareilles.

Cara Cusumano, Tribeca Festival director and senior vice president of programming, shared that there’s always something exciting in store for us at Tribeca. She mentioned they’ve added new premieres because they are electrifying – they challenge norms, spark discussions, and embody the daring creativity that Tribeca was created to foster. Whether it’s a music storytelling album that breaks boundaries or films that delve into themes of identity and connection, these projects broaden the spectrum of experiences you can have at a festival.

The 2025 Tribeca Festival is set to run from June 4-15 in New York.
