10 Bleach Blunders Cour 4 Can Finally Fix in Thousand-Year Blood War’s Epic Finale

Next year, the concluding part of the “Thousand-Year Blood War Arc” from the anime will be released, sparking fervor among fans who are eagerly anticipating how it will depict the remaining battles against the Quincies. With its conclusion drawing near, there is a growing sense of importance to address some notable flaws that have detracted from an otherwise captivating narrative in this long-standing anime series.

Without a shadow of a doubt, the thrilling world of “Bleach” anime has certainly had its share of imperfections. Pieces like the Soul Society arc are undeniably fantastic contributions to the series’ narrative tapestry. Yet, they were somewhat hindered by outdated animation and swift transitions into filler episodes. If the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc is to conclude triumphantly, these anime flaws must be promptly addressed and rectified for an unforgettable ending.

Anime-Original Arcs Like the Bount Arc Only Added Bloat to Bleach’s Story

As a die-hard Bleach fan, I’m beyond excited for Court 4 of the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc! This final stretch promises to unveil fresh insights into the climax of our beloved story. On paper, it’s a brilliant move to delve deeper into Yhwach or the Sternritter’s hidden pasts – details left untouched in the manga. Yet, I must admit, if new content is introduced, it needs to be handled with utmost care. After all, we’ve learned from the early filler arcs that not every additional detail enhances the story. Here’s hoping for a well-crafted finale!

Following the surprising cliffhanger of the Soul Society Arc, many viewers eagerly anticipated diving headfirst into how the Soul Reapers would prepare to confront Aizen and his fresh allies. However, what ensued was a filler story known for its dull villains and combat sequences – the Bount Arc. This detour added nothing significant to Bleach and merely postponed the build-up towards the more captivating Arrancar Arc.

What Were Once Powerful Spells Became Less Useful as Bleach Leaned Into Using Bankai

As a devoted fan, I’ve noticed that over the course of the anime, Kido techniques seem to lose their significance compared to the extraordinary powers wielded by Soul Reapers through their Zanpakuto. Initially, Kido spells can unleash potent blasts of spirit energy swiftly and powerfully. In certain instances, these spells prove useful beyond combat scenarios. For example, during the Soul Society arc, Soul Reapers like Tosen employed Kido to facilitate Aizen’s communication with other Soul Reapers in the vicinity. Regrettably, creative applications of Kido become increasingly scarce throughout the series.

As the Arrancar Arc unfolded, it became evident that a Soul Reaper’s offensive prowess was largely shaped by their Shikai and Bankai abilities, leaving little space for characters to employ Kido spells in combat against adversaries such as the Arrancar or Yhwach’s Quincies. Regrettably, with a few exceptions, Kido was scarcely observed being utilized as a primary offensive strategy during the battles against the Espada in the False Karakura Town. It’s a pity, indeed, for Kido offered distinct long-range attack options that Soul Reapers could leverage for immobilizing or restraining enemies.

Bouncing Between One Character After Another Can Make It Hard to Track What’s Happening in Bleach’s Main Story

In the world of “Bleach,” the array of characters has always been enormous, even in earlier times, when figures such as Hanataro were part of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads. However, during the “Thousand-Year Blood War” anime, these characters have not received significant attention. Instead of expanding the narrative around Ichigo and his main group of companions, the anime chooses to concentrate on characters like Omaeda or Izuru, who don’t seem to add much beyond being lieutenants for their respective Squads.

To ensure a triumphant conclusion for the TYBW anime, it should emphasize the challenges faced by the main characters. The climactic battle between Ichigo and Yhwach promises to be spectacular, but its success hinges on the audience’s emotional attachment to Ichigo’s journey as a Soul Reaper. Similarly, Uryu’s character development should also reach a fitting conclusion following his alliance with Ichigo once more. If the narrative manages to achieve this, the finale of the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc will undoubtedly be magnificent.

Sternritters Like Robert Accutrone Barely Do Anything in the Story

Unfortunately, some of the minor villains in the anime are not particularly impressive. For instance, Robert Accutrone was frequently highlighted at the beginning of the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc, providing challenging battles for prominent captains like Shunsui. However, after this point, his contributions seem limited to participating in group skirmishes against Ichigo and not much else of significant impact.

It’s not just the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc where villains often find themselves with little to do. Characters like the Fraccións from the Hueco Mundo Arc seldom have opportunities to contribute beyond being defeated by Ichigo, his comrades, or other significant Soul Reapers. This is frustrating at best given the strong supporting cast in Bleach, particularly its antagonists, who are rarely given meaningful tasks after their losses against the Soul Reapers.

Bleach Needs to Fully Withdraw From Sexualizing Its Female Characters

In the initial run of the Bleach anime, it was typical for there to be moments that were more focused on fan service. Reflecting on those scenes now brings a sense of awkwardness or cringiness. Scenes where characters like Kon, Tatsuki, and Orihime are subjected to harassment are particularly hard to stomach. While Bleach‘s recent episodes have reduced this aspect, it occasionally resurfaces in an unpleasant manner.

The most noticeable issue seems to be the latest attire of Orihime. At first sight, the costume appears to overemphasize her chest area, making it seem unrealistic at best, even for the standards of Bleach. Moreover, it seems excessively exaggerated and frankly, quite comical. Fingers crossed that the designers in TYBW Cour 4 reconsider Orihime’s design to make her portrayal more credible.

Urahara & Aizen’s Bankai Remain a Mystery

Despite Bleach having finished its first three arcs, there are still numerous Soul Reaper’s Bankais yet to be disclosed, with Urahara and Ichigo’s true Bankai being the most eagerly awaited. These have never been seen before and will undoubtedly be significant aspects of the upcoming arc. There are other characters in a similar situation as well.

It remains uncertain whether Kenpachi or Aizen’s powerful techniques known as Bankais will ever be shown in the storyline of the anime. Although fans recently witnessed Kenpachi using his Shikai in battle against Gremmy, it’s still a mystery how the anime could present Kenpachi’s possible Bankai appearance and what its unique characteristics might be. Similarly, the public has been pondering over Aizen’s Bankai for many years now, as the anime has yet to delve into the full extent of Aizen’s power even though his Shikai already alters a person’s senses.

Ichigo Doesn’t Seem to Stand a Chance Against the Overpowered Antagonist

In the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc, it seems almost impossible to stop Yhwach, the leader of the Sternritters, who has single-handedly defeated Ichibei, Ichigo, and any other opponents that have confronted him. This impressive feat is largely due to Yhwach’s incredible Almighty Ability, which lets him peer into various possible outcomes, enabling him to manipulate battles to his advantage. It’s challenging to conceive of anyone approaching the level of power that Yhwach possesses.

It’s tough to imagine Ichigo overpowering Yhwach without a unique ability designed to counteract the Almighty. Otherwise, defeating Yhwach would seem more puzzling than plausible, given his powerful presence throughout the war arc. Since Yhwach has demonstrated immense power, his defeat should be something that can reasonably match up to it. While Ichigo has honed his skills to unleash his true Zanpakuto, it remains uncertain if he can effectively challenge the strength of the Quincy.

X-Cution Members Like Ginjo & Tsukishima Have Been Strangely Absent From Urahara’s Plans

Just like Yukio and Riruku popped up to aid Ichigo, Orihime, and Urahara in formulating a plan against Yhwach, these characters have provided unexpected assistance that significantly impacted the storyline. In fact, without Yukio’s intervention, it seems doubtful that Ichigo and his companions could have escaped from the Soul King’s Palace. This sudden reappearance has sparked curiosity among fans about where other X-Cution members might be during this battle, as their presence could potentially shift the course of events.

Kugo Ginjo and Shukuro Tsukishima are the two Fullbringers most often linked to X-Cution, but neither have shown up in Bleach’s Thousand-Year Blood War Arc so far. It’s plausible they’ve been working with Urahara behind the scenes, but it’s still surprising they haven’t appeared yet. We can only hope that Cour 4 of TYBW provides an opportunity for these Fullbringers to reappear prominently.

Lieutenants Like Shuhei & Kira Still Feel Unequipped to Handle the Sternritters

The Lieutenants of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads are expected to be highly proficient Soul Reapers, given their position as second-in-command of an elite squad of Soul Reapers responsible for defending Sereitei against external dangers. Notables like Rukia and Yachiru have demonstrated their prowess by defeating formidable Sternritters during the war against the Quincies. However, some have struggled to resist Yhwach’s forces.

As an ardent fan of this captivating world, I can’t help but feel that characters like Shuhei are still not quite up to the mark when facing off against formidable Quincies. In one of the initial skirmishes, the Lieutenant of the 9th Division, unfortunately, failed to inflict any significant damage on Mask De Masculine, who swiftly overpowered Shuhei. And let’s not forget poor Izuru Kira, who was instantly injured in his first battle due to an attack from Bazz-B that left his right abdomen in ruins. Now, with Kira back on the battlefield, equipped with prosthetics, there’s a glimmer of hope for him to make amends for his earlier setbacks.

In the world of Bleach, since the Soul Society Arc, there’s been a mention of an entity known as the Soul King. This being is crucial, maintaining the balance and separation among the Human World, Soul Society, and Hueco Mundo. His role in the lore and narrative of Bleach is extremely significant. However, contrary to his importance, the Soul King himself is essentially a symbolic figure, lacking a distinct personality or individual identity.

As a devoted protector and follower of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads and Squad Zero, it’s my responsibility to care for the otherworldly being we are sworn to safeguard. Though our primary role remains defending the Soul King, I can’t help but feel a sense of melancholy knowing that this being is merely an observer of all existence – a puppet in the grand scheme of things.

However, even though it seems unlikely to change in Court 4, there’s always the possibility that a new entity may one day step up to fill the Soul King’s role once his power is absorbed by Yhwach. In this ever-evolving universe, who knows what secrets are waiting to be uncovered?
