Dan Spilo Out at Industry Entertainment After Incident on Set of Alan Ritchson Movie (Exclusive)

Dan Spilo has been dismissed from Industry Entertainment, the management firm he helped construct over several decades as a partner.

One day following the exclusive report by The Hollywood Reporter about Spilo parting ways with his high-profile client, Alan Ritchson (who stars in Reacher), there has been a professional separation due to an altercation on the set of the Australian action film Runner, where Ritchson was the star and Spilo served as a producer. The details are scarce, but tensions escalated between the two men, causing Spilo to leave the production and forfeit his producer credit on the movie. More recently, Kal Penn has also left Spilo’s list of clients, and Gen V actress Lizze Broadway is no longer associated with him as a client.

Industry Entertainment is dedicated to ensuring a secure and considerate workspace for all. The accusations of inappropriate behavior on the set of the movie ‘Runner’, involving Dan Spilo, are being treated with great importance, and we’re conducting a comprehensive probe into these claims. Our associates have urged him to leave our company, and he has consented to this action, effective straight away. It is our standard practice that Industry Entertainment does not tolerate harassment, mistreatment, or misconduct; regardless of an individual’s role or length of service. This dedication extends to everyone unconditionally. We acknowledge our obligation to establish a work environment where the well-being and respect for every person is prioritized.

The manager is recognized for his aggressive approach and has both critics and supporters within the film industry. However, his departure from the business is surprising, considering he appeared to buck trends for years, skillfully maneuvering through controversies that could have spelled doom for others in the post-Me Too era of Hollywood.

2019 saw contestant Spilo become notoriously dismissed from Survivor, marking him as the first and only participant expelled following accusations of inappropriate touching by a female competitor. The CBS series encountered criticism for permitting his continued presence, but eventually terminated him when he inappropriately touched a female producer while boarding a transport boat. Spilo issued an apology, stating, “I deeply regret that anyone was made to feel uncomfortable due to my actions.” Following the incident, he also lost his executive producer credit on Walker, a series headlined by client Jared Padalecki.

After parting ways with Ritchson, he reached out individually to certain clients to strengthen their backing and assure them that everything would turn out fine, as reported by sources. However, this didn’t prevent some of them from deciding to leave.
