The Worst Looking Disney Parks Character Just Got A Major Facelift And I Can’t Get Over How Much Better He Looks

One delightful aspect of exploring Disneyland or Walt Disney World lies in encountering characters from beloved Disney films, vividly brought to existence. Sometimes, the queue for a photo op with Mickey Mouse can stretch as far as those waiting for popular rides. Interestingly, it’s not just children who crave that snapshot – adults share the same enthusiasm!

However, the transformation from animated character to “real life” theme park character isn’t always a smooth one. There have been numerous instances where characters in the parks have looked a little strange, and sometimes, they’ve been disturbing. One of the worst offenders for years has been Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. However, when the character returns for Halloween this season, he’s going to look different and SO much better. Check out the new looks for Jack and Sally posted to Instagram.

At Disney Parks, you’ll encounter two types of characters: those who wear masks and those who don’t, often referred to as “face” characters. Characters wearing masks, like Mickey Mouse or Goofy, are fully costumed, including a headpiece that mimics the character’s appearance. On the other hand, face characters do not wear masks but use their real faces, such as Disney Princesses and Sally, as shown above. This setup allows them to interact with guests, particularly children, by speaking directly with them.

Previously, I, much like Jack Skellington, had a peculiar blend of two worlds. I wore a mask, yet not one that fully concealed my face. It granted me the power of speech, but it seemed quite odd, as my mouth was connected to an otherwise exaggerated head in a way that made it appear normal. However, Disney Dan, the internet’s resident expert on costumed characters, recently unveiled an enhancement, and I must admit, I share his amazement at the transformation.

This Jack Skellington mask is simply stunning! It gives the impression that the character is alive and breathing. The upgrade from our previous ones is so significant, it’s almost hard to believe. The moving mouth on the mask suggests that Jack may still be able to talk, as a static mouth would indicate a silent character.

Previously, the sight was really peculiar and frankly unsettling. Often, costumes can frighten kids, but in this case, I believe that the old version of Jack was spooky for everyone.

Enthusiasts will have the chance to catch a glimpse of the fresh incarnations of Jack and Sally when these characters make their grand entrance during the Halloween Season at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. In Disneyland, the traditional Haunted Mansion will be magically transformed into Haunted Mansion Holiday, a seasonal redesign inspired by “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” which is adored by numerous fans, except for perhaps Ryan Gosling. You can often find Jack and Sally posing for pictures in the vicinity outside this attraction.

Additionally, Jack and Sally are scheduled to attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom this year, with the event dates announced concurrently. This year, a revamped version of Jack will make appearances on both coasts.
