Blake Lively’s Lawyers Are Extorting Taylor Swift, Justin Baldoni Claims

Justin Baldoni‘s legal representatives are alleging that Blake Lively’s attorneys are attempting to blackmail Taylor Swift, seeking a public endorsement for the actress involved in “It Ends With Us.

Michael Gottlieb, acting on behalf of Lively, contacted an attorney at Venable, a law firm that represents Taylor Swift, and requested that Taylor Swift issue a statement backing Lively. The request was accompanied by an implication that if Taylor Swift declined to comply, private messages of a personal nature belonging to the actress might be disclosed, as stated in a court document filed on Wednesday by Bryan Freedman, who is a lawyer for Baldoni.

In the letter, Freedman states that a representative from Swift responded to what seemed like inappropriate and potentially extortionate threats in at least one written communication sent to Lively’s legal team. He wants to obtain these communications as they could support allegations that Lively is engaging in intimidation and coercion of witnesses in the ongoing legal dispute. The source of this information, which remains unspecified, is said to be very likely to have accurate details.

Gottlieb firmly declared that the accusations were “completely untrue.” He further stated, “We wholeheartedly refute all these supposed allegations, which originate from alleged anonymous sources and bear no resemblance to reality. This behavior is in line with what we’ve come to expect from the lawyers of the Wayfarer parties, who seem to take pleasure in making unfounded claims without any evidence, disregarding the harm they cause to others. We will promptly submit court motions to address these attorneys for their misconduct.

The filling was served following Swift’s summons by Baldoni’s legal team, who chose not to comment for this report. Swift’s role in the ongoing lawsuits stems from an event that took place when Lively invited Baldoni to her New York City residence in 2023 to discuss alterations to a scene at the movie’s beginning on the rooftop. Upon arrival, according to the lawsuit, Baldoni claims he was unexpectedly confronted by Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, and close friend, Swift, as mentioned in the communications bearing the name “Taylor.” The high-profile figures reportedly commended Lively’s portrayal of the scene, allegedly pushing Baldoni to accept the suggested changes.

In a text, Lively referred to Reynolds and Swift as her “dragons.” The message read, “If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you’ll appreciate that I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons. For better or worse, but usually better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for.”

On Monday, the subpoena was contested by Venable, asserting that neither the singer nor their firm possess pertinent information, and that Baldoni’s intention is merely to “divert attention from the facts of the case.” In alignment with this argument, Lively and Reynolds backed the firm’s attempt to invalidate the subpoena.

In Wednesday’s submission, Freedman anticipates resolving the matter with Venable promptly, as both parties are engaged in sincere negotiations.

Swift didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
