As a passionate devotee of the Bollywood realm, I’ve made my mark with some truly remarkable performances, but the journey wasn’t always easy. At just 18 or 19 years old, I was subjected to trolling for being too slim. Recently, I bravely decided to speak out about this experience and revealed that people would often mock me by calling me names like ‘chicken legs’, ‘matchstick’, or commenting on my lack of certain physical attributes.
As a young woman starting out at 18 or 19, I found myself facing teasing remarks about my slim build. People would joke about my legs, comparing them to chicken limbs, likening me to a matchstick, and commenting on my lack of curves in both upper and lower body. These were some of the early challenges I had to navigate.
As I navigate through my personal journey of growth and transformation, I’ve come to realize that the changes in my appearance have sparked speculation among some about potential cosmetic enhancements. This constant scrutiny can sometimes make it seem like there’s no escaping criticism, which can be challenging to deal with.
She mentioned that there is a tendency for people, particularly women, to be subjected to frequent criticism. As she noted, men seldom encounter such negative feedback on similar matters. Furthermore, she acknowledged that Bollywood movies often establish unattainable beauty ideals.
As an actress, Ananya acknowledges that her roles in films and songs may have unintentionally perpetuated the notion that women always appear ‘beautiful’ when they wake up with their hair done and make-up on. However, she emphasizes that such portrayals are not reflective of everyday life. To rectify this, she encourages open discussions about it and stresses that this idealized image is a fabrication. Off-camera, she endeavors to showcase a more genuine and authentic self to challenge this stereotype.
Currently, in terms of her professional endeavors, Ananya Panday recently appeared in Kesari Chapter 2 alongside Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan. The movie received positive reviews, and her portrayal was well-received as well. In this production, she played the role of a lawyer.
Next, you’ll find her in an enthralling series of productions. She has a role in the sequel of Amazon Prime Video’s Call Me Bae and Chand Mera Dil by Karan Johar. In these films, she will share screen time with Lakshay. Vivek Soni is the director, and the movies are scheduled to hit screens later in this year.
